Great model, great texture.
The only thing I don't like is the stock firing effect with the big stupid glowball at the top.
As much as the CnC4 sucked, I think obelisk effect in it was much better. You might consider trying to emulate it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z26CnS9qEh4
The FX from CnC4 looks even 'stupider' than the CnC3 one :P

This Obelisk is absolutely fantastical!
I like that you're using the Tiberian Sun model.
Personally, I think it shouldn't have much of a firing effect at all. Why would a laser have a giant flare at the emitter? That's just silly. Just have it hum, maybe glow a bit (like in the original CnC and Tiberian Sun), then emit a red beam.
Intimidation, basically. It's ment to give a "You are soooooo ******." feeling :P
