This guy carries a Sniper-Railgun. It oneshots most Infantry, and is quite effective against vehicles too. Carries light zone armor, so he can jumpjet arround. Isn't stealth anymore.

so according with you description , it is the GDI commando with a railgun? but now he can find target for Juggernaut's artillery right?.

Not really, no, not at all. According to my description this is a Sniper with jumpjets. Also the GDI Commando ALWAYS had a Railgun.

in C&CTW/KW the GDI commando is equipped with a machinegun not a railgun. in C&CTS/FS the only commando-like-unit carrying a railgun was the one of the forgotten.

commando shows up at second 15

ok then.

so if the commando has the railgun what are the zone troopers's weapons called? arent those railguns too? because if they are railguns too they seem awfully different in performance.

second thought forget what I said, railguns are more fiction than anything else, every depiction of railgun in media is inaccurate anyways, so whats wrong with your idea of railguns being inaccurate?

peace :P

Actually the Commando's Railgun carbine is fairly accurate.

The navy today is using a type of railgun. and if you read carefully in the intelligence it said the commandos were using a new "experimental" type of railgun thats why the commandos is different

The Commando had a 'Special Railgun carbine', while the zonetroopers have 'Normal' Railguns.

The Carbine obviously has less firepower but higher ROF.

Cool, I'm guessing the normal sniper will still be in the game since you're calling it "HEAVY Sniper"? Other than that, l33t.

Nope, the normal sniper is out, and replaced by this. The normal sniper will be more or less moved to Nod, with different skin ofc.

Much, much more useful, I can say that already now. The Sniper units always got replaced by Zone Troopers pretty much as soon as possible, if I bothered with an infantry killer that takes forever to eliminate one squad at all.

well it's still pretty much useless if the spotter can easily be spotted by the enemy, and get killed before the juggy sends the hailstorm.

both the GDI and Nod snipers have a rather large sight range, and are one of the two units that can detect stealth.

The Snipers can use a scan burst ability that briefly decloaks all stealth units in the immediate vicinity, then both factions get stealth detector vehicles like in TS. All units and defenses detect very close stealth units, so no, you cannot sneak a stealth tank by a wall of defenses :P

Thats a great idea, it make sense that even if you couldnt see a stealthed unit, for example a stealth tank, you would surely hear or at least feel vibrations caused as it rumbles past about 3 feet from you. Making units detect close range stealth units is not only more realistic i think it will make it more challenging to sneak them into a place where they can cause a lot of damage.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes

yep, but will be ineffective vs vehicle, as a ballance, it can fire 3 shots in a short burst, then reload, so it can kill 3 squad members. It takes a full burst for single infantry tho, for ballance.

That sounds good, a stelthed sniper sounds a lot more fitting for NOD unit than a GDI one anyway. At least none of the models will have the stupid hat that EA decided to give the original GDI snipers.

i never used the zone troopers that much to be honest. and if you put only snipers in a building there wouldnt be a flag or anything to show that troops were in there unless the snipers were firing.

Seeing as this is probably gonna knock the two kills per salvo down, what's going to be done about juggernaut bombardment? That was the most useful ability for me probably out of all infantry abilities. Honestly, I found the old snipers performed better than commandos even, being easily replaceable and only limited by your number of juggernauts.
Maybe give this unit some other kind of support power? Smoke grenades that decrease enemy accuracy, maybe?

Smoke grenades that Stealth Friendly Units (Temporary) and Decrease Accuracy Of enemies. Is a Good Idea.

And being able to Garrison a Building without being Detected would be Nice too.

the snipers in fact get two special abilities. One is the jumpjet ability, to hop arround, and the other is the good old juggernaught spotting.

Why not a Team of Two?

If anything most sniper teams are like that.

One is a Sniper and the Other would be a Spotter.

spotters also had a gun they werent there just to look at stuff. i think usually the main sniper had a bolt action rifle while the spotter had a semi-automatic sniper. spotters were snipers also

Yes but this is effectively a Zone Sniper. Teams of people even only 2 tend to attract attention. Besides high tech gear+jumpjets etc. 2 people makes too much noise attracts notice. 1 at a time moving in and finding good targets seems simpler easier and much better. *Easier path finding and control in game too*

Teams of snipers makes far less sense. Besides single unit makes it easier to balance its health and abilitys.

Now I'd like to suggest Blackhand troopers have more variation *machinegunners flamethrowers etc.* either as seperate types of units or a single squad with multiple weapons *as far as i know multiple weapons however is really hard to do*
