Thrawn's Revenge is a large-scale mod for Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It includes the events of the Galactic Civil War after Palpatine's death at Endor, up until the signing of the Pellaeon-Gavrisom treaty. If you own the Steam version of EaW, you will have to complete extra steps to run the mod after installation. Please see the manual for these steps.

I always found the Pentastar to be very easy, you start off with 2 SSDs and in a easy to defend starting point, not to mention the planets in your control are good for making money.

Heck, even in From the Ground Up they are still easier than others because of their starting place.

I agree with warlord, playing as pentastar is always quite easy.

When playing Essence of War or Art of War I've always found playing with the empire of the hand is probably the hardest for me as you have to fight both Isard and eventually Kaine/Jerec.

I actually manage to catch Jerec on the ground a good percentage of the time. As for Kaine and Isard- honestly, if you can build enough Chaf Destroyers before you face them, you have very little to worry about. Confronting them with most of your heroes is wise- all you really need is eight or nine capital ships, inserted at the right place at the right time, and then you just wait.

Pentastar also has those praetors which imo far better then ssds as you can get out more of them they fire at longer ranges and are just as almost competitive with an SSD.

I love the Praetors. One of my favorite ships classes and the main reason I use the Pentastar.

Well, I almost solely play From the Ground Up, since I find every other scenario too easy (and boring, starting with massive prebuilt fleets).

That said, for most scenarios I'd say playing as IR is the easiest early era, NA is the easiest late era, and PA is all around pretty easy w/ multiple SSD heroes and easily defensible planets in its starting area. EotH gets a lot of good heroes too, but has worse starting locations.

Specifically for FTGU I'd say EotH, PA and NR get it pretty easy, since they all get major choke points that can be easily defended. IR probably has it hardest, since you have to keep an eye on 3-4 border planets at any one time, usually.

In general I'd say the larger the map (and the more spacelanes there are),the harder it gets to avoid losing any planets since so many can potentially be attacked. In huge maps you can have a lot of planets bordering enemies, making it harder to focus defenses on a single choke point. FTGU is the exception to this, since it has a lot of choke points but the enemies start with SSDs and big fleets while you start with next to nothing.

I'd also point to the small scenario where you play as Daala as fairly difficult too, since there are so few planets and you can't really grow your fleet much.

Hey you're not RaW guys, the AI is okay I guess :) But yeah as other mentioned Pentastar and Empire's Isard are OP in GC. Still like the thrawn campaign the best, I love this mod for this campaign :)

Am I the only one who finds this mod extremely passive and easy..? The enemy AI does not seem to cheat so it is not attacking properly and I think this mod is build't on the vanilla basis and not on the expansion.

The enemy sends suicidal one ship attacks against my stack of star destroyers and rail guns or just a small amount.

Also they do not know how to to build mines/taxation buildings or anything worth awhile. The AI seems just too dull this mod is awesome but at its current state its a big waste of time.

It is just a big easy cake walk. Imperial remnant is sooo too boring I've actually fell asleep a couple of times I've been playing it.

Even the new republic poses no challenge a few of those up defended regular republic ships can take down ssd's without taking any damage the AI is just simply stupid.
---------------------------

Try playing the mod the republic at war where you have it on expansion base, the enemy gets lots of money and sends literally stacks against you. Now that is more thrilling.

The AI for this mod has been poorly made which is a shame for such a detailed and well designed mod. In Skirmish the AI specifically target your resources while they get a passive boost to their income (I kept them from taking asteroids and they still managed to have a better eco then me). Some scenarios are extremely easy (Imp CW) while others are way too hard (Reunification, Imp side) and practically cannot be completed unless you are insanely skillful (you start off with kessel and the Maw, the republic gets free planets while you have to push your way through everything.

Description

Because of our attempts to represent the relative strengths and weaknesses of different factions at different times in the post-Endor era, different GCs have always provided different levels of difficulty for different factions by design. This can sometimes cause confusion to newer players who, for example, jump straight into From the Ground Up. So, one of the things we're doing in 2.2 is adding a section to the GC descriptions for difficulty (ala what you'd find in faction select for a Total War game).

As the people who've played the mod most, we want your opinions on which GCs are hardest are hardest, and which are easiest, broken down by faction. For simplicity's sake, we're keeping this to five different levels (Easiest, Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardest).

We want your input! If you don't have an account but want to weigh in, guests are able to post. If you want to weigh in, the topic can be found at:
