...and I alone survived to tell the tale. THE WIND, an epic drama set in a Midwestern high school, needs you! We are presently in need of a wide range of designers to join our already dedicated team. Join people from all over the world and come to make something unique and special! THE WIND is a mod/film hybrid, that will be a playable mod that will also be used for Machinima (video game driven films). Essentially, it will combine film, video and Machinima content, done mostly in Half-Life 2's Source engine. Dark, dramatic and epic, it will break through the boundaries of experimentation and be a serious attempt at doing something completely new for feature films and Modifications!

It's called matte painting. Many artists do it, and it's not illegal. It's amazing what kinds of un-earthly images you can create with very ordinary pictures. In this example the artist has stuck to the roots of the source pictures anyway, and it looks amazing - better than what any one photo could convey.

So is the film set in New York then? It'll be interesting to see how you re-create that in HL2.

*much* more attractive than many other HL2 menu backgrounds. No need to have a background map! Fast load times! Yay!

That image above is a composite of mulitple images of New York. Look at the sky, its evident in the middle.

and - Concept art is just that. A concept. There is nothing wrong with using an image to help convey your idea, the trouble arises if you use it as your final image.

Wait but I'm just curious, not that i have a problem with this since it's concept art. So you found a bunch of images of New York and mixed them together right? I wonder if that makes it like half your work lol or what?

what does it matter if he can call it his work here? does it being his work have any relevance to how much it helps convey his idea? I like what you created, but a little stereotypical of a beginning for such a different machinima.
