The Sith War is a Total Conversion for the PC Real Time Strategy game Star Wars: Empire At War, aiming to bring to life epic infantry and Jedi battles in an era of Star Wars made famous by the recent Knights of the Old Republic, the time long before the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire. With an independant storyline and proposed campaign, three completely unique sides, and giant battles, The Sith War will bring alive the destructive times when the Dark Side reigned supreme!

At the core of The Sith War is a heightened focus on infantry and their roles in battle. Gone are the "only four types of infantry and rarely more" days of various RTS games. Instead, the Mandalorian Clans alone have six different infantry types, the Sith have eight, and the Republic a sheer eleven different types of infantry! Each infantry unit is specially tailored to fill a role for that particular side that is both unique and vital. More often than not, a player will find themselves using all the infantry at their disposal in order to gain the most complete victory.

While the infantry are a diverse and important part of the gameplay, so are the vehicles. Aircraft will play a vital role in the carrying out of missions and tactics to suplement the powerful ground vehicles that will come into play. From the weak-yet-quick Republic Police Skiff to the Turbolaser-on-wheels Mandalorian Stormer, every unit has a place and a purpose.

The Mandalorian Stormer!

The Mandalorian Stormer

Nothing else quite like it on the battlefield, and there is not a single ground-based vehicle that will be able to compare to it. The only other vehicle that will do more damage is the Atmospheric Frigate, also a Mandalorian...in other words, these guys are hard hitters. Who else would put a turbolaser turret on wheels and let it blast away at their enemies?

It's dead. Lost all of my workers quite some time ago and work/wife leave me no time to learn the modeling/skinning process myself.

You can find the final farewell speech on the home page. Hate to leave almost five years of work behind, but I'm done.

Seems like the homepage is still somewhat active. I'm hoping it's just one of those mods that doesn't keep their moddb profile updated, cuz this mod has great potential.

Oh, and these are True Sith, those who are trained of the original group of "Dark Side" users who the Jedi kicked out before the Great Hyperspace War.

Dang it's been ages since I've been here. Once again life just gets in the way.

To answer a few of the questions before now, 1: It's based -sort- of on KOTOR, but is actually set several decades before hand.

2: There's no such thing as a "complicated fiasco" when it comes to strategy. The RTS genre has stagnated and has pulled people away from having to think. Just ask Chris Taylor, he and I think along the same lines. The more units, the more infantry, the larger the battles...the more chances of strategy.

The only side to have a large number of infantry is the Republic, and the number is misleading. 3 of the 12 types of infantry are Heroes, which you'll only have one of at a time, so that narrows the number down to 9. Of the remaining 9, one is non-combat (the Sentinel) and an additional 3 are Jedi, which play in infatry roles quite a bit differently from other infantry and from each other, each one having strengths and weaknesses that the others cover. So that leaves 5 remaining types. One is a Sniper, one is a heavy-duty and expensive infantry unit that can take more damage than other Republic infantry, making him a good 'cannon fodder' blaster target. One is a special-purpose grenadier, one is a rocket unit designed for anti-vehicle, and the last is your typical grunt.

All of this variety is what the Republic is all about. You don't HAVE to build all those unit types, but each one covers a gap left by another type, so the most effective Republic assault force is one that contains at least a portion of all the infantry types. That means that Republic players will have to be good at micromanaging and speed, forcing them to -think- instead of just click.

Sorry, but if you want a click-fest, look elsewhere. The Sith War is about strategy, thinking, and planning.

As for its progress, it's coming along! Got some models I haven't posted around here that I may get to in a few days.
