It's a shotgun...a bayonet's not going to mess up your "firing shiz" all that much. :P Besides, what if you sneak up and catch a necro off guard? Can take him out without making much noise. Or more likely, what if you run out of ammo and you're in a tight pinch? Then at least your empty yet extremely pretty shotgun is more of a spear than a club (and when it comes to the undead/ infected/ demonic, the more distance the better!).
