The Red Alert, developed by the mod team of C&C Labs (makes of The Forgotten and C&C All Stars, undertakes one of the most ambitious tasks in C&C modding: to recreate and improve upon an original game. The mod, in development for Red Alert 3, is based off the original Red Alert's art and game play. Not aiming to model realism, it instead endeavors to bring the addictive heart-pounding game play of the classic to a world-class 3D engine, to bring back all of the classic units, including those from Aftermath, and to recreate the very "feel" of its art style. With The Red Alert, epic tank battles, MiG attack runs, and Cruiser strikes will be more than just fond memories — they will all be weapons in your arsenal once again! It was released on September 21, 2011 and was ranked the number one mod on Moddb.
Sorry if these seem a little lackluster compared to previous releases; I wasn't really prepared this month.
Camo pillboxes? :D
Oh man that was such a long time ago ^^
Good job on getting them to work!
i would have thought you would have given them stealth... but cool
Well Stealth isn't Camo :[
I prefer this.
If he can manage to adjust the coding so that units don't automatically attack it,
but is selectable by the commander (so the camo actually matters),
and not have them show up on the rader,
that would actually be pretty nice :]
I don't know if it was like that in the original one though.
And of course, it's his mod, not mine :P
No, the enemy will not automatically attack the pillboxes (although the pillboxes will automatically attack the enemy [you can always change it's stance if you don't want it to, of course]); yes, the enemy can select them if they notice them; and no, they don't show up on radar.
Awesome, the fact that you change it's "stance" opens a lot of possibilities :)
If you keep the current base expansion system (and I hope so, it's decent IMO)
you could use a Sputnik or Prospector to expand further, place some camo pillboxes,
then sell the Sputnik/Prospector and have camo pillboxes spying on your enemy,
maybe with some disruption tech with it to cover it some more.
