Description
The StG-44 magazines had short service life due to the magazine spring wearing out from loading it full (30 rd.). The germans were ordered to reduce the amount to 25 to make the service life of the magazines longer. Later, the magazines had a plug that made only 25 rd. go into it. [Note the round in the chamber, 25 + (1 in chamber) = 26.]
I never knew about this, very interesting.
