About The Opera
The Opera is a game that places style and flair at its heart. Set in the world of asian gunplay films (HKBO's), The Opera offers a multiplayer internet dueling experience where victory is won through playing with élan and not with efficiency.
Developed over a number of years at Redeemed Software, The Opera has so far seen a release as a modification (or mod), for the bestselling PC Game Half-Life, and is now being developed on Valve's Source engine.
The first release of The Opera challenged multiplayer gaming traditions by rewarding players for the method of killing their enemies rather than the kill itself, while at the same time pushing the limits of the Half-Life engine with impressive movement options and animations.
This release of The Opera, known as 'Release 1' is available to download, but is now unsupported, and has been 'upgraded' with community content in the form of 'The Opera: Mook Arcade Edition', available here.
The second release will challenge The Opera's past endeavors...

The second of our monthly content updates has been somewhat delayed and will roll over into next month, we are sorry for this inconvenience, but April is a rather busy month for school/college examinations.
Take this update as a reminder that we are still working hard on The Opera: Release 2, and hope to release it to the public as soon as we can.
This month we have updated the FAQ (courtesy of the "Frequently Asked Questions" thread over at our forums) and we announce a welcome return for the Schtick Showcase!
We are also asking for help in the area of level design, this includes help with mapping locations, model work, and the need for talented texture artists.
If you have any questions about job positions, The Opera game mechanics, or what the colour of blood is, just check out our updated FAQ page, before emailing any questions to our PR department.
This month we are showcasing the "Panic!" schtick.
"Be prepared." This motto stuck with Ng from childhood, and it was the only thing he could trust after trading in camaraderie with corrupt police for a more lucrative life with the triads, who usually had more honor...

This is the latest version of The Opera: Mook Arcade Edition with Akimbot v3.1, a map compilation, and a few tools provided to revive an aging mod.
Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know that the mod isn't dead
I'm one of the Level-designers, and it's shaping up pretty nicely :D
Hopefully we'll release some content soon enough.
Cheers!
This time around we promise for more dedicated servers on launch.
Sorry for the lack of updates, we've been changing a few things but are back on track now.
This is "the" mod to bring to the Source engine. Cant wait for the duels! Enjoyed the orginal in its hey day... Hope there will be more servers this time around when released ;)
I eagerly await this mod. The first was a work of art.
Recently our level design team has taken a bit of a hit due to illness, damaged hardware, lack of time, thinly spread talants, etc.
So with that we will be looking on filling a couple of mapping positions...
We are in a real need for texture artists with or without bump/normal mapping experience. We aren't looking for people who hack together work from free texture sites, etc. We require real talent with prior documented experience (that means a reference or two). Portfolio work is accepted.
We need mappers quite badly to work through our concept locations. Mappers that apply MUST have previous experience and/or a good portfolio of sample work. Mappers will have artistic freedoms in creating the maps, provided they stick to the concept's guidelines.
Finally we need prop modellers. We need these the most.
The ability to create a model of a world object from several reference shots is required, as is the ability to texture said models.
If you think you've got what it takes, drop me an email at aneurexorcyst@gmail.com
Thanks.
best mod ever
The first one was so fun, I really hope you guys can do it again. Best of luck, I'll be watching ;)
That's what we are hoping, but we are hoping that the core of our revamped game will be the true sensation - not the engine.
The Opera on the Source engine will be sensational.
We are far from dead, in fact we have just hired some more talent to help development progress more smoothly, however we are in dire need of a talented player modeller and weapon skinner.
Don't worry, none of us will let this die.
