Isn't that the Praetorian frigate, not Thranta?

(It has diffrent "head" than the Thranta I think...)

I really don't understand why people seem to think the thranta is smaller than the hammerhead. Either that, of this is the preatorian corvette (180M) and you're mixing them up. Now, there's no "canon" size for the Thranta which I absolutely hate as it reduces my arguments to mere observations of pictures. Even though it states on wookie that it was "slightly smaller" than the hammerhead I think this make no sense at all, here is a list of reasons why: It was developed atleast 300 years after the hammerhead as a stronger replacement, in would suggest it's larger. In the sw universe, stronger ships get bigger, not smaller. Picture observations: Google.nl Here you can clearly see a thranta behind a hammerhead class, while being larger even when it's farther away from the camera. This next one is an estemation: Google.nl Here, at 4.00 you can see a very similar scene where the endar spire is attacked by sith fighters, and it appears smaller than the thranta in the picture: Youtube.com

The thranta is able to carry 14 fighters, 3 bombers and 4 shuttles, while the hammerhead is only able to carry 12 and 2 shuttles fighters. (source: wookiepedia) Another source (http://www.galactic-voyage.com/Old%20Republic-Capital%20Ships-Thranta-class%20Corvette.htm) clains it's even able to carry 24 fighters.
Both ships carry 300 crew members with the hammerhead able to carry 400 additional passengers, the thranta is only able to carry 200, though that can easily be explained by the far larger hanger the ship must have. As a last point, the thranta has a far larger armerment, more lasers, turbolasers, even boasting concussion missile launchers and 8 tractor beams, all of those in larger quanities than the hammerhead did, which didn't even have missile launchers.

Overall I have no idea who thought the Thranta would be a smaller warship than the Hammerhead, and who authorised it at Bioware. This ship can litterally destroy twice or more the amount of enemy ships the hammerhead can, it just makes no sense the ship is smaller than the already small 315M hammerhead. The correlian corvette does not outgun an acclamator either correct? I hope these points give a little bit of a better idea of what the thranta should be, a large 350M+ (atleast) warship, not a tiny "corvette".

My interpretation of the Thranta (and apparently biowares) is smaller. The Ship in the Photo you have provided has not actually been confirmed as a Thranta, so im not sure. I wanted it to be a smaller warship able to pack a big punch. While My Thranta relies on powerful conventional weaponry, the Hammerhead relies on powerful shields and shield damaging weapons. Both Ships have a place in a fleet. As to the squadron issues, the Wander is actually a cannon unit. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wanderer-class_transport It was used as a transport, but again, for the purpose of this mod it acts as a fighter carrier.

I must disagree with my friend G on the premise that stronger automatically means larger. This is technology several hundred years later than the hammerhead. Of course its more powerful even if smaller. What does technology do as it advances? It gets smaller. My PC is far more powerful than the same size PC I had years before it. My phone is far more powerful than the cell phones that were 3 times the size and weight 10 years before. I assume the hammerhead has undergone many upgrades over its long service life but there is only so much you can fit in to a ship that is retrofitted. Eventually you need to redesign a whole ship around newer technology but I don't believe it would have to be larger. Just my two sense.

Yes but yet starships continue to grow bigger in size in the SW universe, from the hammerhead to the acclamator to the venator into star destroyer, over the years the main battleships of the factions do get bigger ;)

Besides look at the "head" of the ship! Thranta has a narrow head while the praetorian (with I think we see here) has a round head (like this one).

So i can say I'm shure it's the Praetorian frigate- it would match the size we see, and it is the only explenation of the round head of this ship.

This is NOT the Thranta cruiser, this is Praetorian frigate for shure. I suggest change the name LordVindican.

Description

The Thranta class cruiser is based off the highly successful Hammerhead cruiser. Despite its slightly smaller profile, the Thranta boasts over double the conventional firepower of its predecessor. Two Dual turbolasers, four turbolasers and two capital grade concussion missile launchers the Thranta is capable of engaging most Sith Frigates. However, the haeiver weapons place more strain on the power generator, and as a result its sheilds are weaker than the Hammerheads. The Wanderer class transport is built around the hull of a Thranta. Stripped of its heavier weapons, the Wanderer has the capacity to carry 6 squadrons of fighters into battle.
