Well this neat little animated image will show you some MODEL only variations. The skins will then be applied over the top for more heads, shirts and pants and stuff.
These model pieces are randomized when the zombie spawns to increase the variation of zombies.
And YES the one armed one WILL stump you to death, even with one arm hes just as deadly!
At the moment only one skins is done, and the second is the bloody version of that skin. This will happen to all the skins.
Overall with this little method im hoping to achieve the ability for over 100 variations of zombies.

EDIT: Yes, being as awesome as i am i left out the default body variation, which is basically the body without a giant hole in his chest. Sorry about that people.
Fascinating. I assume this saves alot of texture and model resources too, instead of making 100 compiles of zombies instead?

Oh yeah man, tonnes. This way i will only have around 5 models, each with over 20 variations, and each variation will have a variation, e.g. missing an arm, hole in the head revealing the skull and so on.
Shame that SO much detail is lost here, i really put effort into the detail of all the pieces of the zombie and its all lost because of this terrible compression.
very nice! variations between blood and shirt textures will definitely increase uniqueness. Nice work.

Damn, if this is out by the time Dead Rising 2 is, they both might compete when it comes to the greatest zombie games of all time.

Also, this reminds me of that Dead Island deformation demo thing, with the face and body getting gorier as the zombie gets hurt even more.

Difference with mine is that they spawn these ways, when you hurt them more you end up killing or gibbing them! :P

I love the uniqueness of the zombies, but how might you address a zombie with one hand attacking? I've seen their attacks (I don't know if they were final or not, but featured in another film), and they're two handed, what do you plan to do about this?
Well im not going to animate them differently depending on the body groups so im just going to leave it. The animations you have seen will be changed but he will still use both hands. I don't think a zombie will have the brains to hit with with his hand or his stump so long has he whacks you with something, Haha :D
