Hi, I'm having trouble installing the mod (the R6 beta). I've run the installer, but I have 2 problems:
- When I launch the config tool, all of the picker menus are grayed out; there's no way for me to select any options
- When I run BF2, I hear ME music, but everything else appears "stock"
Any Ideas? Thanks!
FYI this is on a Linux machine running Wine, which emulates a Windows XP environment. SWBF2 runs fine and all the mod files have been extracted to their normal directories.
to be a little more specific:
1. this is with the Steam version of BF2
2. When I run BF2, I do see the MEU-Newcomer profile, and the new maps like Earth: Luna and Venus show up in the Instant Action list (in pink). But I don't have the Mass Effect era as an option.
3. The same exact things happen on Windows 10, installing the R6 beta onto a clean install of the Steam version of BF2.

Sorry for the delay, I didn't notice this post until now (even though I check every day)!
Could you run the debugger (download it to the GameData folder), go into the Instant Action menu once it's all loaded up, close the debugger, and then post the contents of the BFront2.log file that is created in the GameData folder? Also, would you kindly post a screenshot of the GameData\addon\ME5\data\_LVL_PC\cfg directory?
Thanks!
EDIT:
Oh, also, is R6 the first iteration of the mod you've ever tried, or have you played other versions (that have worked for you) and if so, which? Edited by: Marth8880

No problem; see below. I had similar problems trying to install R5. Also, I have no "cfg' folder in the _LVL_PC directory. I do have a 'ConfigTool' directory, the contents of which are
ConfigTool.exe ConfigTool.exe.config ConfigTool.exe.manifest ConfigTool.xml config.xml Resources (folder)

Interesting...
It sounds like you installed the 30818-30822/06 build only, which requires the full 30818/06 build.

OK, that seemed to work. It's strange, because I KNOW I installed both the standalone build and the patch before, but reinstalling both seemed to sort me out.
However, the menus on the configuration utility still don't work.

Sounds like you need to set the directory paths, which you can do via the Tools menu:
If you need help with how to set each directory, refer to the help manual found in the Help menu:

No, that's not it. The menus on the config utility don't work on either the Wine/XP/Linux install or on Windows 10, even with the config directories selected properly.

Hmm. Do you have .NET Framework v4.0 installed? (you should already, especially if you're trying on Win10) Edited by: Marth8880

Yep, it is is installed in both cases (apparently .NET 4.0+ is built in to Windows 10). I installed it explicitly in the Wine / Linux case.

Oops, completely forgot that you mentioned you don't have a cfg folder. Here: Puu.sh
Extract it into GameData\addon\ME5\data\_LVL_PC. Make sure you don't have another cfg folder inside of the new cfg folder though! The directory should look something like this:

Thanks! On the Wine/Linux install my cfg folder was empty, but once I added the contents you attached then the mod works MUCH better (more complete list of maps, ME era available on all maps, the backgrounds and music all work, etc.).
On the Windows 10 install my cfg folder already had all these files. However, SWBF2 crashes whenever I try to load the mod (this is not a new problem; I just haven't been able to get it working properly on Win10).
In both cases, there was no change to the menu behavior; the config utility menus don't work on either installation.

On the PC that it crashes on, could you run the debugger, try to load up a map in the ME era, allow the game to crash, and post the BFront2.log file? Be sure to include a note of the map and mode that you attempted to load.

Prothean Skyway, Team Deathmatch, Windows 10
For some reason the game launched in windowed mode when I ran the debugger.

Are you able to play the game on any of the stock maps in the CW/GCW eras? If not, try going into the Audio options tab and set Mixer Config to Disabled, and then try to play a map.

That was the problem - I had to disable the mixer. Now MEU is running well on both systems (albeit with no sound on Win10, but I see that that's a common problem with SWBF2). The config editor menus still don't work though. Thanks for all the help!

Figured that was the issue. With that said, you can easily fix it by enabling the Stereo Mix device (sometimes called "What U Hear") in the Recording Devices window found here:
If neither device is listed, it might be hidden. To unhide it, right-click anywhere in the window and make sure "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are both checked.
If it's still not listed, simply plugging a mic (a pair of headphones works too) into your sound card's mic jack should fix the issue.
