LOTR-TW is a Total Conversion for Alexander TW based on The Lord of the Rings trilogy, focused to recreate the epic battles seen in the movies. It has a complete Middle Earth map, fully customised cities like Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep on Battle and Campaign map, a set of Historical Battles where you can play all the major and minor battles that take place in the trilogy, and a quest line for the Free-People's campaign where, if the player succeeds, will take the Ring-Bearer from Hobbiton to the wasteland of Mordor in an attempt to save the world from its doom.

Sorry to bring you down but it wont be a new years release, it may be january, but dont bring your hopes too high either!
I wont, but I do love this "promo image"? Is that what they call it? It's very nice and shows off the wonderful work which has been inputted into the mod.
Also, as we have seen the return of "Shogun Total War" as "STW2". And also Napoleon - another "Empire Total War".....What if there is a "Rome: Total War 2" in the near future? I'm more then sure 'LOTR' mods will be created for it, but will this team be one of them maybe?
Well its impossible to tell, recent Creative assembly games cant get modded that much, and i doubt that they will change that, but even so i dont think the LOTR-TW would do a mod for a new C.A game.
According to Seth Krn3ll this picture will be actualy replacing that black gate with aragorn intro on the new patch.
Well, from the images which have been upload, I can easily tell that this "update"/final version will be one of the best LOTR mods out there.
Also, just a little suggestion which might fix a lot of issues with installing (beginners mostly): Will/Could the final version be a fully downloadable mod? - As in, not a patch to 2.08? Or is it a bit late to mention it.....
Sincerely i dont know, the main dev (wlesmana) is busy with his real life, and the other devs dont have his recent work( the new units, new archer animation, new uruk-hai models and so on) so the next patch may not include those updates, therefore it might just be a patch.
Depends if Wlesmana comes back, if he does come back in time it might be a fully downloadable mod.
Either way, i believe the patch will not need you to download 2.08c, only 2.0
