LOTR-TW is a Total Conversion for Alexander TW based on The Lord of the Rings trilogy, focused to recreate the epic battles seen in the movies. It has a complete Middle Earth map, fully customised cities like Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep on Battle and Campaign map, a set of Historical Battles where you can play all the major and minor battles that take place in the trilogy, and a quest line for the Free-People's campaign where, if the player succeeds, will take the Ring-Bearer from Hobbiton to the wasteland of Mordor in an attempt to save the world from its doom.

Nice one on the custom settlements! I was gunna play the Third Age total war mod for MTW2 but my new computer (acer aspire) Broke, and to get it fixed would could £200, so atm i dont have that money but im using my old pc now, and i found this mode and love it! Thanks for making this mod/Taking part in its production :D

Yep, a new release will come in the next week or so i think, with some updates on the enviroments, as well as bug fixes and a few other things

how the hell does this work?
"INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR PATCH 2.08:
1. You need LOTR-TW Open Beta v2.0 installed (Mod for Alexander TW, expansion of Rome TW).
2. Extract this patch over the main RTW folder where RomeTW-ALX.exe is placed.
It will copy some files into main Data folder, but it will not overwrite any vanilla file.
3. A shortcut with the name "Lord of The Rings - Total War" will be created in your Desktop, to launch the mod."
So basically you gotta install the patch in your Rome Total War folder (you need Alexander Total war installed on the same folder, as well the 2.0 version Moddb.com) and then start the shortcut in your desktop
Hello, I am trying to play the game. I downloaded the beta version 2.0 then the patch 2.08. I click on the created short cut and it brings up the main cover art screen. But then it just stays like that. It has nothing to clikc on to choose campaigne or anything. If I hit the enter button it vansihed and takes me to my desk top. What do I need to do to play the game? Thank you.

This Mod seems to be a complete new game not the Rome, awesome units and map it is even better than LOTR:battle for middle earth 2... congratulations wulfburk12, I deeply appreciated the work has been done :), it is one of the best RTW mod...
*I had some problems when I played with noldor elves in War of Ring, High Noldor soldier are unavailable, with the all structures build, only options are spearguards, elven archers, both sentiels and scout cavalry, no chance to beat trolls without general :D
*and on the custom battles sauron and saruman are 4 guys hard to beat 4 instead of 1,as gandalf doesnt have any power :)
Most of the scripts and graphics are near perfect, except castles on battle map which is not really important..

Is it possible to convert it to Medieval Total War 2 compatible ? or this would require complete new work of scripting and modding?
To get the High Noldor elves units you have to do the Noldor reform, to do it you gotta construct the latest elven forge in the 3 territories around grey havens IF i remember correctly
the 4 saurons cannot be fixed, RTW has a minimun of soldiers per units, on huge you get 4 elephants = then you get 4 saurons, you have to play the unit scale on medium to set it to 1
Making this mod for M2TW wont happen, as the mod is only being worked by two persons, Wlesmana and Bardo, and from what i know it would require to resize all models, and remoddell them so it would look perfect onM2TW, so alot of work, Europa Barbarorum 2 is going out for M2TW, and their team is big and yet it is taking a long time to finnish

it was set to release in january but the developers got cought in real life, so it was delayed, the release is coming thought, cant say when but its coming, probably this month

And could you also do to make champions(Aragorn,Legolas,Gimli,

its impossible on the RTW engine, the lowest number of soldiers in a unit goes for elephants, and there is 4 elephants, you can put single soldiers units in historical battles but thats it

You cant in the RWT engine, because it allows only for a unit to use the main unit model plus the unit captain and the standard bearer i think, so only 3 models IIRC

you sure you didnt deleted the wrong files? they should reappear the moment you start the game/ or start another campaing, i've just deleted my two files and i've started the game normally

hm you should install at your RTW folder, that RTW folder should already have installed the ALEX total war expansion and the 2.0 LOTR patch

yep at your RTW folder, mine is
D:\RTW
so i had to install alexander total war at D:\RTW, patch 2.0 at D:\RTW and patch 2.08c at D:\RTW, after all was installed just run the shortcut created at your desktop after the installation of 2.08c

if the game do not find the chat_filter, it uses to be because you did not install the 2.0 in the main folder, where both RomeTW.exe and RomeTW-ALX.exe are placed.
You have to install both 2.0 and 2.08c to "Rome Total War\" and run the shortcut placed in your desktop, and you must have the Alexander Total War expansion installed on the previously mentioned "Rome Total War\" folder
