-About

The Life of a Slave is a total conversion for Morrowind where you play the role of a slave on an island located north of Vvardenfell. You were shipped from Morrowind to the island caged in a cell along with other slaves. Upon arriving at the island you are put to work as a slave doing jobs such as mining and cutting wood for the slavers who sell the resources for gold back on the mainland.

You instinctively want to escape this hell and after a while you are given the chance. How you escape is up to you and the choices vary as the plot unfolds into two different paths. Again which path you choose to take is your choice but the events that occur in each path will strike your curiosity and you will want to play the mod again just so you can take in everything there is.

This mod is no where near a hack and slash. You mightn’t even hold a weapon for the whole time you’re playing as you will need to think and use your common sense more then anything else. Things won't be outlined for you either. You may have to take a little bit of time to figure out something but either way the mod will continue moving so you won't ever be stuck.

I've decided, after much consulting with myself that the Life of a Slave will now be made for Oblivion. Even though I wanted to do other projects for Oblivion I've realised that the Life of a Slave has no hope of being completed before Oblivion is realised and I can tell you, I'd rather be playing Oblivion then working on a TC for Morrowind. We have a new mod profile here at moddb which can be found at this address... Moddb.com

Unfortunately making the mod for Oblivion means that you'll have to wait till late 2006 before playing this TC. The good thing about the Life of a Slave for Oblivion is that we get to add tons more features and content to the mod. I'm especially looking forward to messing around with the new AI system and thinking of interesting ways we can use it in a slave camp. We'll also be able to create some pretty cool looking landscape (less bare and more interesting) which adds another pro to the pro and con list. I've also had a few wild ideas which i'm pretty sure will be included if it's possible for Oblivion but there's still room for plenty more so I encourage you guys to hop on the forums and give us your ideas.

Specking of forums, I'm not sure when but I'm planing of reworking them altogether such as changing the skin, changing the default buttons and so on. Also the sites content is going to have to be edited as the mods now for Oblivion not Morrowind which I'll work on over time. The progress page will in fact be up in a week or so so that will be good and you'll be able to see the progress being made even if we're just in the planning stage.

Be sure to check back at the new mod profile here at... Moddb.com

Can this mod be played in its entirety on Morrowind, or just on Oblivion? I was personally hoping for both, because I own Oblivion, but I've been concentrating a lot more on Morrowind, and having this for Morrowind would be cool.

I kept all of the so called poorly dawen consept art made by me and left him.
the one I made is abit nifty, and is quite good, Im not gonna throw that away.
I started making the world and came allot on my way, and it beacame quite good

In a sense the production for The Life of a Slave has halted until the release of Oblivion but when I say it's been halted I only mean the major part. I haven't stopped planing this mod since the beginning and I'm afraid to say of got much more of it to go. I've drawn concepts, begin compiling information for a Design Doc, written up pages of info (you should see my idea book where I throw my brainstorming ideas in) designed well laid out documents for cinematics and animations and I'm still going on and on.

As for what's already done, well there really isn't a lot. Those screenshots basically show all that was made and looking back at what I have created I'm not at all too happy with the result. The short while that I've been working for the Ultima IX: Redemption mod has taught me many valuable world building skills that have changed what my landscapes look like tremendously. I'm really looking forward to work with the new construction set for this mod but until then its plan plan plan.

What do you mean it's being made for Oblivion? Are you stopping production until oblivion comes out or do you have an early release of oblivion? Also, what about all the work you've done already, do you think you'll be able to transfer that to Oblivion?

Well it's not just that but most of the plot and a lot of basic info hasn't even been created. That can only really be done by me. I guess after I got past the phase and had finalized a lot then I could do what you suggested and search for a larger team.

I don't know it all really depends on if I get all the plot and basic info finalized before it's too late.

Well if you are thinking of saving time, dont make it a total conversion just make it a normal mod.

I mean still quite big its up to you though but that should save a bit of time.

Or just advertise the morrowind sites and forums a lot, theres loads of them and make a bigger team that'll speed up production.

Well they say it may be released by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. But there’s a good chance that it'll get pushed back further. Still as you can see above the progress hasn't even reached 10%.

I haven't even considered on character modellers. I guess I assumed that the ones already in Morrowind would have been enough. I'm not sure will really need them, sorry.

I guess I should consider Icefiddell idea of porting it over to Oblivion. It would give me enough time to create a permanent plot, plan out the whole thing etc so when we go public we might even be on 40% with just the creating to happen. It would also get rid of the risk of finishing it after the release of Oblivion. The only problem with that was I was having a great project idea for Oblivion that I would have liked to have done instead. Some ideas from you guys on that would be good.
