Which factions are currently in the mod? As of Version 4.0, the mod contains Gondor, Isengard, Mordor, Misty Mountains, Lothlórien, Erebor, Rivendell and Rohan. In the future we will add Dol Guldur, Greenwood, and Haradwaith.
Will Angmar/Arnor be a standalone faction? No. The mod is set during the final years of the Third Age, a time where both Angmar and Arnor are long gone.
Would you consider adding more/different factions than the ones you have planned? No. We have weighed our selection carefully and will not change it.
Not even Rhûn? No, not even Rhûn. Rhûn/Easterlings is a key part of our Mordor plan, where they will stay.
When will the mod be released? Current version can be found in our Files section.
Why did you base this off of 2.02? Because 2.02 is the best available patch for RotWK. It fixes bugs, improved stability, and contains dozens of amazing new maps.
What will this mod do to Create-A-Hero? Currently we’re planning to give them better art. Further plans are TBD.
Why can't I build a second fortress with Gondor? You can. The fortress icon is in the builder's personal commandset because we ran out of space on the right side of the screen.
Why isn't Legolas a permanent hero? Legolas will be a hero in Mirkwood, which isn't released yet.
Will you fix War of the Ring mode? We're working on it.
Will you add Bolg as a permanent hero to Misty Mountains? No.
Will you add all 9 Nazgul to Mordor? No.
Can you add more player slots to War of the Ring? No, we cannot.
Why is Frodo a Ring Hero for Good factions? Because we like our Tolkien lore. The power of the Ring cannot be used to do good. 'We cannot wield it, none of us can', 'I would use this Ring from a desire to do good, but through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine', 'You would have a queen! Not dark, but treacherous as the sea! All will love me and despair!', etc. The Ring was entrusted to Frodo, a hobbit who had shown to be resilient to its corruption, and the representatives of the Free Peoples placed their hopes in the quest for its destruction. Therefore Frodo (or Bilbo for Erebor) carries the Ring, and in doing so inspire your units to amazing heights of power. If you find them to be weak, we suggest reading their power descriptions to use them to their full potential.
I get an 'out of memory' error while playing the mod, what do? RotWK is an old game built on an engine that is not able to make use of all the benefits of a modern system, such as multiple cores. If you're playing games with enormous armies or play games for hours on end, the game will eventually reach its memory limit and crash. There is no solution for this beyond avoiding overburdening the game. It also helps to restart the game after every game (to restart the memory limit) or to lower some graphical settings such as shadows.
Why is X not Y? Because we like X to be X.
Where is Gimli/King Dain/Gloin/Stonehelm...? In a future update they will be included in a LOTR-Era switch for Erebor.
