The Historical Plausibility Project is a mod for Hearts of Iron 3 and its expansions with the goal of helping the game reach its full potential as a half-historical / half-sandbox game. The mod features a vastly improved AI, historical OOBs for every nation, complex internal politics, a reworked leadership system, the Soviet invasion of Poland, HOI2-style doctrines, capital ship modernizations, over 6,000 unique unit pictures, and much more. The HPP is the result of the efforts of the HPP team's five members of Slan, TheBromgrev, TZoli, SSmith, and Nephandus from the ParadoxPlaza forum, and its main forum is its official ParadoxPlaza forum, which Paradox requires proof of game ownership to enter. The HPP's forum contains the mod's FAQ, Submod downloads, country guides, and small hotfixes. In addition, part of the mod's previous work to the East Asia part of the map is now in the Their Finest Hour base game for everyone to enjoy.

Don't report bugs here. That's what the Bug Reports thread is for :)

*If you see something wrong that's related to province ownership, IC/resource locations, unit starting positions, etc., then that's because the move from Magrathea to the CMP isn't done yet. "bad" surrender transfers are related to this problem. Canada's and the US's infrastructure aren't quite right. If you spot something not mentioned in this bullet, please make a bug report so TheBromgrev can fix it. A lot changed between Magrathea and the CMP and it's quite possible something was left out.

*Strategic resources are missing. We're redoing the entire SR concept to make more sense, so all of the vanilla SR's are gone for now. Some will come back, so please wait until we're ready to discuss our implementation of the concept.

*The trade AI was completely redone and could use some tweaking. Please reports what the AI does in regards to trade to help Slan fine-tune the parameters. The more details the better! Please note that the trade AI works on stockpiles instead of daily income, because the HPP mod punishes nations that hoard resources. This is a major change from the base game and every other HOI3 mod, so please keep that in mind before reporting a trade-related bug. Nations running out of rares is a bug. Nations refusing to trade a resource may not be a bug.

*The 2nd Sino-Japanese War balance may be off. TheBromgrev is actively working on a solution.

*No pictures or models for the consolidated support brigades. TZoli is working on that now.

*The Vichy wargoal doesn't work properly, so use conquer instead for now.

*The Naval Models decision doesn't do anything for nations other than Germany, and only the capital ship events are completed. This event chain is a work in progress and eventually every nation capable of building their own ships will have such a menu system.

The following are NOT bugs:

*The provinces Xibei San Ma controls in Xinjiang are NOT bugged. Yes, the borders look ugly, but the area was known as Tunganistan and was under the control of the Ma Clique.

*France declaring war on Germany is NOT a bug. If Germany's threat is higher than France's neutrality, then France will launch a pre-emptive strike against Germany. This may happen in 1938 if you're overly aggressive and not paying attention to enemy spies, or never if you hold off on the diplo-annexations and build up your navy. Unlike the base game and practically every other HOI3 mod, as Germany you can't do whatever you want prior to Danzig or War without risking a war.

*Just as it wasn't possible for Hungary or South Africa to conquer the world during the time period between 1936 and 1948, it isn't possible for small nations to conquer other small nations in the mod. You can only puppet a nation when they're one "International Status" level below you, and can only conquer when they're 2 levels below. If you don't see the conquer or puppet wargoals as options, then the nation you're playing as is too small to realistically have been able to puppet or conquer your target. This also prevents exploits, like Hungary placing a puppet wargoal on the USSR when Germany only chooses Acquire Territory.

*Don't be fooled by the high MP values you'll see. Combat is much bloodier and it won't be uncommon to be spending at least 70 IC on reinforcements. IC is the limiting factor in a nation's ability to wage war in the mod, not MP.

is semper fi version 100% working without any bugs?

The SF version won't crash on you and the AI doesn't have any major issues, but there might be some design-related issues like an event not working if you do something really outside of the norm. I haven't played the SF version for about a year now, but I consider it a good thing that there haven't been any bug reports in our main forum filed against the SF version since we released it. There might be something lurking in there that will only show up in obscure circumstances, but we fixed everything we could find before calling it "final" and moving on to the next expansion.

Question, I installed the mod, but game crushes during the start up (when or just after calculating paths).

I use Win8 and have more than 4 gb of RAM, but did not find the fix mentioned in the read me. The VAC is off. Same issue persisted with another mod i tried to install some time ago (mechanized warfare).

P.s. crushes when creating textures for quad 3343.

You need Podcat's LAA exe from the official Paradox tech support forum. As stated repeatedly, the game itself can only use 2GB of RAM without a special fix, so the crash you're seeing is due to the game itself running out of memory and not the mod. The news items always say this in big, bolded, underlined text. The mod is making the base game's flaws more apparent.

If you can't get to the official tech support forum for whatever reason, a workaround has been posted in every news item right above the Known Issues list. You need to copy your vanilla map cache into the mod's map cache folder, which will bypass map cache generation and let you play the game. Instructions are in the news articles, so please read them.
