The hammer mod is a idea I have been working on for the last year or so in my head. I wanted to create a mod with a load of mini games in it. For the last year I have been with out PC so that's why I have took so long to think about it before putting it into action. The only problem was that I could not code. so at first I was going to involve other people to help me to get the mod finished, but after reading the tutorial on how to get a third person camera from just using hammer over at sdk project it showed me that there was a lot to get out of the hammer editor and the I/O system. The Game Modes Will Include A streets of rage type mode, with a side scrolling zombie knocking off combines, A top down shooter, A sneaking game were you have to avoid cameras and patrols while stealing treasure/Intel, A maze game were you a ball escaping a maze, A shooter that uses a guitar controller.

I have been working on a couple of new game modes and doing some tinkering on an old one

Posted by on

Over the last week I have been working on a few new game modes:

Half Life Hero

Half Life Hero is based off light gun games like the house of the dead and time crisis, but with one large difference you don't use a light gun! You use a guitar hero controller. The way that it works is that you press down the fret that matches the colour of the enemy you want to kill and strum and they get killed. you carry on till all the enemy's in the area are killed and then you move onto the next one.

Point and Click

Point and click is an at the moment unnamed game mode, at this moment it is more of a proof of concept just to show what can be done I am not too sure were to take it yet, could be rpg or a point and click adventure. at the moment I have got it so were ever I point and click the combine will move to spot as show in this video:

As well as working on new modes I have also done a little work on one of the older game modes the topdown shooter I have smoothed the camra out more and have come up with the basic layout of the level you will be killing zombies on:

I also want to say a big thank to everyone that has left comments on this mod.

(buried)

All aboard! The fail boat. People will help for money, other than that, try to find friends that can code.

nice videos, i respect the haxx that go into making these game modes
the guitar hero rail shooter idea is greeeeat, what a connection you made there, rail shooters are by nature time based and linear.. just like music.. there's a lot of novelty to explore

these are great! love the guitar hero idea. and point and click rpg sounds cool too. i never knew all this could be done without code.
this mod has a lot of good ideas some new some reworked and some tried and tested, however i think to really make the most of them you will need a coder as the project goes on to make full use of these mini mods.

nice to see you using all these camera types though

I kinda feel like making a point and click adventure map now... Could actually have battle in it also, pretty awesome.

the guitar i am using is the 360 xploder guitar and when you plug it in windows treats it like a joystick. I have not tested it with other guitars yet, I will also set it up so you can use the keyboard for people who do not have a guitar.
