You are Charles Longden, an archaeologist studying Minneburg, a German castle abandoned due to recent cave-ins. You are sleeping late one morning when you are shaken awake by a tremor running through the castle. There is no sign of your partner, Jane. Where has she gone? Developed by Damascus and Crisosphinx. "The Great Work" is a Custom Story taking place in the Amnesia: TDD universe, with an all-new original storyline. I will be making use of atmosphere and suspense to inflict fear, and detailed texts and dialogue to present an intricate and engaging storyline. Warning: Some of the puzzles are very difficult; they will require knowledge, logic, attention to detail, and great patience. Look forward to the following features: All new models; all new enemies; over seven hours of gameplay; original voice talent; branching storylines; and four completely different endings!

Report RSS Minor update: clearing up confusing points

I'm going to be pushing a minor update to clear up confusing puzzles and story points.

Hey folks! Been a while, hasn't it? I hope you're surviving this year as well as you can. With the upcoming release of Amnesia: Rebirth, I'm hoping there will be a renewed interest in custom stories.

I'm going to try and push a minor update pretty soon to address confusing puzzles or story points. These will mostly be clearer mission objectives and on-screen text. Time permitting, I may push a similar update for A Coward's Debt.

I'm not planning any more major Amnesia content. I originally had very preliminary plans for a third custom story, but the idea fell apart, and soon after, my fellow team members became unavailable. I don't have the money to hire new people, and I also no longer have the time to work on such a serious project.

I hope that you still have fond memories of this custom story!

If anyone is wondering what I'm up to these days, I'm currently the host of a Dungeons & Dragons podcast called Cornfields & Kobolds. If you're into D&D and/or podcasts, check it out!

Would you mind if I asked some questions regarding the lore and characters of the Great Work?

There is a zip file in the custom story folder that contains much of the background and lore about The Great Work. The password appears at the end of the credits. But, if you have any questions after that, feel free to ask!

Yes, I know about the secret document in the game files, but the thing is it doesn't contain any information on the language that Haak and Hull use to communicate! Also, since their models look identical, it's really hard to tell which one says what, when exactly each one appears and which lines they say!

It's a fake, improvised language created by my best friend. I don't remember anymore what their lines meant, but they were fairly generic enemy lines, like "Where are you?" or "I'm coming for you!" Hull has the deeper voice, and Haak has the higher voice.

So, I was originally planning on giving A Coward's Debt the same treatment as this, but somehow, I broke Amnesia on my computer. Like permanently. Even after uninstalling and re-installing, it won't run at all. I've been trying various fixes for months, and nothing works. So unfortunately, any updates to ACD are going to have to wait.

Greetings again! Just wanted to stop by and ask one more question regarding the game's lore. Is it set in the same universe as Amnesia: The Dark Descent? Are the Orb and the Shadow mentioned in the game related to the ones from Amnesia, or are they supposed to be different entities with different properties with tangential similarities due to reused assets and models?
