The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war two decades earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Expeditionary Force against the German Empire, however with time the team will try and bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary. This mod will focus or realism but keep the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable. Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instil fear into the enemy troops.

Ive done all direction about making sure that i had all file and everything on my COH file. Am i supposed to download The Great War 1918 v1.0 and tgw1918_v1_0.exe or one or the other cause i cant get it to launch the game plz help me
Did you try to launch the mod by using the shortcut that should have appeared on your desktop after extracting the mod's files to your Company of Heroes directory?

When I start up the game, it tells me I need to put in the install disk. The problem is, I'm installing to Steam. So, uh, what now?
That has nothing to do with the mod. It's because Relic's servers are down while they switch from Quazal to Steamworks. This is the cause: Community.companyofheroes.com
Why can't I play as france?

its a great mob but the Sturm troopers and pionieers should have Mauser 98s because the model usse was taken out of service becuse it was not good in battle and the german motor team have SMLEs [just a opinion still great mod]
The stormtroopers have K98az, which is historically correct. The mortar (yes, that's how it's spelled) crew are armed with K88 carbines, not SMLEs.
The 98S is... what exactly? I don't think such a variant ever existed. A sniper variant of the WW2-era K98k?
Don't try to correct the historical accuracy of our mod unless you have very deep knowledge of WW1 and a good amount of sources to fall back on. It's very unlikely you'll be right otherwise.

There are only BEF and German Empire fractions, K.u.K and France will come later (much later).
It's an absolutely great mod. I really like it!

In addition to that, when I try looking at the installation error guide mentioned above, there is no "RelicCoH.exe" file on my computer. I really have no idea why I can't play.
Check directly in your steam folder, something like:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes
Otherwise do the following:
- open steam and go under "library"
- right-click on company of heroes and select "properties"
- go under the "LOCAL FILES" tab and click on "verify integrity of game cache"
If that still does work, it might be a corrupted mod install. Try re-dowloading and installing it.

It's impossible to repair Motor Damage (for example from Mortars) in the light (Wheel-) Tanks. The Repair is complete but the Tank still drives very slow, even slower when the Engine gets damaged again.

for some reason i have my normal game as english but this mod it comes in russian? how do i change this?
Do you mean the speech, or just the text?
If it's the text, then go in your ..\Company of Heroes\tgw\Locale folder, find the tgw.English UCS file, copy-paste it to the Russian folder and rename it to tgw.Russian.

That's a CoH steam issue that has nothing to do with the mod. There are several possible cause for this.

Every time I try to open the "Great War 1918," a box pops up that says, "Windows is searching for RelicCOH.exe -mod tgw." Following, another box opens that says,"problem with shortcut." How can I fix this? I have Company of Heroes on Steam and I copied and pasted the Company of Heroes Directory from this site.
