This mod provides five campaigns for you to play that allow you to play as the flood using assets from some other halo mods. The campaigns are release, recuperation, infestation, vitriol, and decay. These campaigns puts you in the shoes of a couple combat forms showing the story of the flood spreading throughout the ring. Release takes place in the swamp facility where the covenant originally released the flood. You will have to fight out of the facility dealing with the covenant and humans that eventually come to the facility. Recuperation is set in the library after masterchief had decimated the floods forces getting the index, you play as the flood slowly renewing their numbers using a covenant task force sent to retrieve the icon. Infestation is the story of the flood that crashed the spirit from the swamp directly into a hanger bay on the truth and rec, be part of the initial infestation and watch as your horde grows in number.

Sanding down the rough edges

Since I'm going to be playing the absolute hell out of Reach it seemed appropriate to not leave you guys in the dark and make a large update with actual improvements/changes instead of just small hotfixes. So over the last week or so been playing through levels excessively. Mainly focusing on the main three, and oldest, campaigns. As always a simple list of changes can be at the top of the ModDB file page's description.

EDIT: Small hotfix to stop marine t-posing

New things

More noticeable changes in this patch include the new scenery, holograms, and other devices. As always there are maps that have had more done to them than others but almost every level has had at least some kind of change done to it, small or big. Hopefully these changes will help to make the areas you play through seem more natural and fitting.

Another thing that has been added is different effects brought about through scripting to a lot more doors and devices in a lot of levels. Again this is small stuff that will hopefully bring across the right tone and atmosphere for the more broken areas such as the Truth and Rec.

After what i learnt throughout the development of Vitriol has helped me finally do stuff that I've wanted from the start. A main thing is the higher utilisation of turrets\vehicles by the cov in appropriate areas, good luck dodging plasma out there.

Gameplay

Some of the largest changes to make gameplay more cohesive is the fix of the UI. Now all elements are the right colour scheme. This change includes reticles and ammo counts being fixed and changed to the appropriate greenish yellow the rest of the UI has. Another thing that has been removed is the pop up UI messages that appeared when doing things like firing with no ammo. Some time in the future I hope to bring a full HUD that really immerses you in your host body.

Once again the players melee damage has been buffed along with its range, hopefully this means you seem as powerful as your allies. Another update that has been improved from the last few patches is the final changes needed to the dialogs of all ai you can interact with. This has now been fixed for grunts, marines, and even now elites. Now you won't be hearing their joyous chuckles of the elites as their friends get consumed around them.

There has also been lots of fixes making battles better for the player to partake in rather than being to lone flood rushing the garrison. These have happened all throughout so hopefully you feel as if you move with the horde instead of leading it.

Scripts

It seems I say this in every update but once again the scripts have been tightened up. This time there have been major changes and rewrites across release, recuperation, and infestation. These include more pathing fixes, and lots of new scripts that help with the flow of the levels and the feel of your allies.

Some other big changes I've made have to do with checkpoints, they've been reworked again with more improvements built on top of the rewrites for the main scripts. This means there will be less instances of repeating way too much of levels due to grenades bonanza and more of a progression through each encounter.

There have also been smaller fixes to ai scripts and things. Kind of did most of these at 3-6am most nights so don't have the best memory of all of them.

Lighting

Another big change is the lighting being reworked on some of the levels. Most of these lighting changes come with hologram placement and other light sources. One of the big ones is the full recompile of the lighting in recuperation5, With this comes lots of holograms and other technology to really make you feel as if you actually are breaching the outer wall of the library.

The other level that received a big change in lighting is infestation6. This allowed covenant torches to be utilised in the darker areas as well as a more greenish hue to the environment under the Truth and Reconciliation.

I really do hope these changes will be well liked in the long run and i hope you all have a fun time playing reach and a good Christmas.

Hey question for you guys. Since the new halo re-releases on steam will be modder friendly, are you guys gonna consider working on mods for them?
