Use these files to begin the process of downloading and installing The Dark Mod for Mac OSX.
Install TDM on Mac OSX
(Note step 4 is the same file as mac_darkmod.zip in this download, just rename mac_darkmod.zip to darkmod.zip).
- Ensure that Doom 3 is patched to v1.3.1 RevA (which provides native support for Intel processors): Download
- It is recommended that the "Doom 3" program folder is installed
into the Application Support folder (i.e. ~/Library/Application
Support/Doom 3/). If Doom 3 is installed into a different location then
additional steps will need to be followed.
- Create a folder darkmod in your Doom 3 directory: ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/darkmod
- Download darkmod.zip
- Move the resulting "darkmod" folder to the "Doom 3" folder (alongside "Doom 3.app" and the "base" folder).
- Within the darkmod folder, double-click the
tdm_update_helper.command file to begin downloading the latest release
of TDM (approx 2GB).
- Start The Dark Mod using the tdmlauncher_helper.command script in your ~/Library/Application Support/Doom 3/darkmod folder.
I was really looking forward to playing this but it fails to restart to install a mission when I tell it to on the new mission page. It says "mission package installed" and then the next prompt "game error could not find tdmlauncher" and the missions remain unplayable... I have tried it on OSX 10.6.7, and most recently, 10.7.1, on a late 2009 iMac.
Be sure to read the installation instructions at Modetwo.net. If you still have any problems then ask for assistance at Modetwo.net.
Thanks for that, MasterThief. I looked at the forums and the wiki pages and tried making many minor changes in the path in the helper command files, but one thing missed me in the instructions.
The taffing tilde.
I am a relatively new Mac user so the tilde in the instructions wasn't clear to me. It would probably be best to change it to the full path in the instructions here and on the wiki.
For others like me - The little ~ in the directory means your Doom 3 folder should be in the /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/ folder and NOT the /Library/Application Support folder.
BUT, this still won't relaunch TDM automatically. Once TDM quits after you press Install Mission, you have to use the tdmlauncher_helper.command
RIP Steve.
You probably never knew that we gave your users a Thief style game to play...

Well, it works for me...
My respect to TDM Core Team - everything seems to work just out of the box!
For lazy testers, I have uploaded some binaries: follow: Forums.thedar...post__p__302111 but look for TDM2.OSX10_7_i386.tar.bz2
Sources are in my git repo, currently in the branch: TDM2.00_OSX_PORT_00 .
Note that i was forced to use clang for compiling - read osxBuild.sh for more details .
Have Fun!
