This is a really interesting and good mod. An epic finale to the maze and woods of lost memories that ties in some knots about the plot.

Unlike some reviews here, the story is actually really good. But it requires you to play the previous ones as well, or else you do not understand it. Its like watching only the return of the king from LOTR. In my opinion, XDJ has created a memorable story, a better one than most stories in custom stories.

The puzzles are a challenge, yes. But if you use your brain, they are actually quite fun. I had no problem with almost all puzzles except for one. The puzzles have some uniqueness to them but some are your average amnesia puzzle.

There is a lot of creativity and originality in this custom story. I love how the dev made a medium sized custom story out of just one map :)

Besides having one of the more better stories on this site, the horror is also where this custom story shines.

The ambiance and music are well places, I know the music is from Layers of Fear, but it has its beauty in this custom story.

The environment is one map, but there are several smaller environments within, but nothing too out of the ordinary.

This custom story is scary! It does encounters differently and there is a custom monster that is really terrifying. I know it can be a bit hard, but GIT GUD!

The endings are satisfying and good, I love how there are several secrets in this mod that can decide which ending you get. But dont worry, most endings are gettable if you do not know XDJ's mods through and through.

All in all, an amazing mod and really satisfying finale to the trilogy that XDJ has created. The only thing that made Woods better is the environments.

Super beautiful!

This mod really pleased me immensely. I admit that when I first started it and saw the entrance hall, I thought it wouldn't be much, but then I radically reconsidered my opinion.
+ a very intelligently and thoughtfully built residence
+ interesting puzzles (piano puzzle evokes The Woods of Lost Memories and leads the player to the bonus end)
+ music and sounds
+ 6 endings
+ great story, following the author's previous mods
+ bonus items
+ achievements
+ invisible spirit, which causes a feeling of greater danger
+ gradual development of the mansion (slime appears, ominous statues, darkness begins)
+ overall extremely scary atmosphere (one of the best I've had to see in Amnesia)
- very rare minor mistakes

It is quite incomprehensible to me that some reviewers can only give this mode 4/10. Even more incomprehensible is the assumption that this is the plagiarism of The Dark Descent. There is nothing in the texts to suggest such a thing. I had big problems with the puzzles myself, but I appreciate the author's effort to help when needed. In addition, Custom Story Gatherers videos are available, and soon there will be my videos, so people who will be stucked will easily find help. The author's goal was to make his mod a challenge for everyone, each according to his individual abilities. I was a beta tester and I know how creator tried to fine-tune literally every detail. It is out of place to blame the creator for making the game too difficult. My ego is definitely not affected by the fact that sometimes I have to seek help elsewhere. That's why I never call a mode bad just because it has a higher game difficulty.

Different endings of the mode will lead the player to a slightly different knowledge each time and it is good to go through them all (for maximum experience from the game).

Excellent custom story! I love challenging puzzle.

you are special

One of the most creative mods of recent memory, especially from mostly original assets. Clever use of one large map to unfold most of the story, it was also sometimes frightening and refreshing. The story itself wasn't my favourite and some puzzles were hard to figure out sometimes, but all in all, fine work indeed, 9/10. Appreciate the hidden stuff and the ending choices.

Well, you rated my mod so I should probably do that as well. Overall enjoyable CS with a lot of creativity put into it

Level design is rather ok, usually areas are well detailed but some, usually bigger ones seemed empty, 6/10

Lighting is also good, areas with light sources don't have pitch black corners which isn't always a case, the only one which caused problems was downstairs with the key under a book, it was impossible to see without using your lantern, and I was out of oil at that moment, I had to watch a video to realise something's there, 7/10

I know the story is related to previous games, but it just cannot by unnoticed how many similarities it has with TDD. orb, the shadow(creature). The story is narrated its own way, it just has many things taken from the main game, so not exactly a rip-off, 6/10

Puzzles are overall nice and creative but some are pretty, fudged. Not that it's hard to understand, your task is clear, it's just the execution that causes problems, like dealing with these whispering statues or yin yang thing which required additional knowledge about the subject. It doesn't affect the score that much, overall puzzles were great, 8/10

When I first went entered downstairs I gotta admit it was scary. All the time I spent there I was leaning from behind the corners. Too bad it was only one time like that and later on I kept running past enemies but still, just for that section 7/10

I didn't really feel the atmosphere, probably because the story didn't immerse me either, it was better in Woods of Lost Memories, 5/10

Overall 7/10, the mod plays nicely, doesn't bug out (unlike mine) and gives you some challenge. Unless you want divine and extremely original story you're probably gonna like it
