It's been more than a month since the first release of the modification – which received mixed reviews upon release – was out. The re-edited modification is still currently being worked-on in order to meet good quality standards and finally match with the expectations of all fans of Return to Castle Wolfenstein that have been waiting for it. Thanks to the important amount of feedback after release, the modification is on the good way for its re-release... a little bit later than originally expected however.
» Re-release delayed → TBD
Effectively, the modification's re-release was originally scheduled for February 20 but due to the recent engine re-conversion (iortcw → id Tech 3) and the intention of not rushing things once again, the plan has been revised. The modification will finally re-release later this Spring. The engine re-conversion has made a big mess in the files and to how the executable runs so (less than) a month is more than needed in order to check if everything's running well. But there is also another reason for such a delay.
» Mac and Linux versions on the way
In fact, the modification's engine re-conversion, from iortcw, back to the original game's engine, id Tech 3, made the work the work on the Mac and Linux versions much easier. That's some good news I wanted to share with you today as I'm working on these versions.
» Going on with something new
I'm making my very best to release what I can call a final version (meaning no patches in the future) – I'm very attentive to feedback in order to finally fully and properly release this modification in order to finally part ways with it – so I can go on with something new. It would seem like nothing but I wrote the script of The Dark Army back in 2011 (five years ago, already) while I was mapping on Return to Castle Wolfenstein's multiplayer component – the development itself was started in sometime in 2013, almost three years ago: it's undeniable to me that this project became a part of my life. For me, it has been an initiatory journey: expect more/better quality of execution in future projects.
