This is a sound effect mod for Distant Worlds (Legends). The sound system in Distant Worlds (Legends) separates sounds into two groups - Music and Sound Effects. Music is not the focus of this mod. As of this date, there are 85 .mp3 and .wav files in the default \Sounds\Effects subdirectory of Distant Worlds. This mod replaces 40 of those sounds with those I have (1) created with bits/pieces of other sounds collected on the web, (2) used in my prior released sound mods for SE4/5, UFO-AS and UFO-AL mods, or (3) borrowed from my collection of sounds kept over several decades of strategy games. Since the sounds are reloaded each time the game is started, this mod may be used with any saved game.

INSTALLATION/REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Unfortunately, as of this date the "Theme" modding folders do not permit the overriding of \Sounds\Effects (although they do permit the modding of music). Therefore, we are forced to overwrite the default files. I have included the default files in the .zip under a subdirectory called "originals") so that you can quickly restore the originals if desired.

To install, unzip the files to the following directory:

"[Distant Worlds install folder]\Sounds\Effects"

To uninstall, copy the 40 files from the "originals" subdirectory into the \Sounds\Effects folder and choose "copy and replace" when prompted.

(2) The sounds contained in this mod were taken from a variety of sources and some were further modified using various sound editing tools. This mod is distributed completely free of charge and no private inurement is received from distribution of this mod.
