Galactopticon is a single-player sci-fi comedy FPS starring a gang of hard-boiled interstellar pirates. The epic storyline will be supported by gameplay elements such as ironsight aiming and an RPG-style branching dialogue system.

Thought I´d share a groovy effects idea for rainy levels, I´ve done this with my own mod, Scintilla:
I made some circle shapes in 3dsMax, animated them into a loop so that they chaotically grow large and fade out. Then I rendered a texture out of that, made an animated normal map out of that, and it reeeeally adds to the rainy feel:

Great idea. Now we just gotta find someone who can be arsed to do that (because I sure can't, haha)

Overpowered much? Unless they got that pistol from Men in Black, they're screwed. Then again, it IS a game, so who CARES? Looks epic, nonetheless. I LOVE Leon's proposal, but think it'll be a bit too much. I'd just add make it additive and just a square, as well as decrease the effect of the normal map.
I had to shoot hordes of them to get a screenshot I liked, thus the bodycount

Almost like watching a scene from blade runner.Add some steam coming out of the ducts and have some of those screens animated or playing video ads and you have something even more amazing.
A lot of those signs are already animated, but we'll definitely add more before the level is finished :)
