Star Wars Conquest is a Mount&Blade; module which transforms a medieval world into the far, far away galaxy... with the same premises than the original game, this module offers an open sandbox where the player can do anything he wants. Based on a Galactic map and hundreds of planets.

Changes in the Team
New and old Members...

As a minor announcement, I wanted to say that Revan Shan has been removed from the team. So his ideas and comments not longer reflects ours. Due its insubordination, bad teamwork and an extremely large list of misbehavior I do not recommend him for another teams.

Recently, some hours ago. I've received some requests from a friend of Vector and Barf. The one you all know, as modeler of our speeder-bikes, clones, droids and more recently Stormtroopers. He asked for being internal instead of an external contributor. He is known here under the Scruples nickname.

PHart is our latest cool guy, post student game designer, he will be helping Vector_Dalon in our everlasting task of restoring legacy assets. His works will talk by himself. :) Expectations are high.

That is all. Hope that this have not been so painful to read.
Have fun.

Well, I can't say this came as such a huge surprise. It seems like tension has been high between the team and Revan Shan for a while now.
It's too bad, since, as I understand it, he did contribute with some good scenes during recent releases.

It's good to hear about the new team members, because I know the team had a rough time not too long ago. Hope it all works out for the better and I hope everyone lives up to their expectations. I think I can speak for everyone on the forums when I say we are very, very excited for the next release :)

I would love to help out myself with the mod, but I'm already part of another Indie Dev Team.
All I can do is wish you good luck, but I doubt you need it, seeing the extreme progress and quality of the mod already.

Swyter, you are the meanest guy I've ever known.

Has been removed? I left. Right when I was going to say goodbye you 'dismissed me'. You feel important for posting 4 minutes before me or what?

Bad teamwork? ha, ha. Let me laugh at your face. You've done nothing in the last months. And I worked perfectly with the team, except for you.

Insubordination? What? This is not an army, this is a team. And if there where times that you were taking the wrong direction and I did what it had to be done, that's your problem.

Misbehaviour? Yeah, of course, but only towards you and much less than you towards me.

Don't make me talk Swyter, specially when I made the 95% of the scenes you have in the game, like the ones you just shown.I started working on this mod before than you and I can say you were fucking it all. And you should thank I left you all what I did, cause if I didn't, the mod would be nude right now. I did also get and made half of the sounds used in the game and part of the textures, do you remember?

And the videos as well, and information. Cause if it was for you Swyter this would be more like Battlestar Galactica than Star Wars.

Oh! And what is this? Oh, I see, the last 2 messages from our team conversation:

RevanShanIf it's uploaded by mistake... why would you want to say "I don't have to give you explications about anything. Put it in your damn head. Anyways, that scene is better than you could ever dream."... You just wanted to fuck with me and, like I said, test your 'superiority' as mod leader.Right now I was getting ready to write a message to Vector, Yiyang and Ithilien with the title 'What should I do?'. In order to ask them if I should continue working for this mod. I was going to tell them that I just suffered for using hours and hours, and days and weeks of work into this... for you to destroy that work or put me down. But also, that if I kept working and enduring your verbal hits, was not because I didn't have any other thing to do, but because I had a dream. Pandemic made BF 2 suck very hard, and Lucasarts doesn't stop bringing shitty games like Star Wars Kinect or Star Wars the Clone Wars. I didn't want to depend on Lucasarts to make somth which was possible, a good and decent star wars game. A game in which you could visit any planet and fight big battles while being an action RPG.I loved this idea so much! that I started working on this mod just in order to follow that phrase: "If you want something done, do it yourself"
I'm not a Star Wars freak, I simply have obsession for perfection. I don't care if it's Star Wars, Warhammer or real Europe in the year 1200. I love realisim, and keeping things as accurate as possible. As I use to say and I love to say ''make things how they should be''. But if I have to fight 2 weeks with you to get a building in... If I need to redo scenes every time you decide to do a 'cleaning' in the props list... And you refuse to redo your Kamino scene which is basicly unplayable... Or whatever... I just can't keep with that.'You're out' you say.
I'm sure you feel sort of powerful for saying that. But your are all day with computers and I still ask myself if you will ever be capable of making a nice straight bridge on the editor. Cause for now you have stairs on Kamino. Yes, 'stairs' instead of bridges. Now the only hope for this mod is that Yiyang makes all the scenes like he did with Manaan or the Tatooine cantina. Good premade stuff you can't change simply by editing.Look. I talked to Yiyang and we could divide the remaining scenes. I talked with Vector, and he could tell me why he was doing what he was doing. I explained Barf that there was a mistake on a weapon and he made a new version. But with you... I feel it's impossible to 'connect'. You keep the module system to yourself and slow down the whole team's progress cause you 'don't trust us', when I for example contributed to the mod before you even knew about its existence. Look, sometimes other people just have different points of view. But you don't have a point of view. You just have a wrong instinct that drives you everywhere. Nothing compared to what Hokie (founder leader of the mod) was.I'll rewind. If I was here it was because I believed an awesome project was possible. With you on the lead, with that behaviour and spirit, it's impossible. You just look forward to publish it and be able to add your "by Swyter" title everywhere you can. You don't give a crap about working for perfection, or for the players' enjoyment... You just want to keep on to finish it any way. If it was for you this project would be full of crapy city-planet copy pastes all around, or even worse. It would be dead. Yes, people, just what you read. Swyter wanted to quit several times! And I kept encouraging him to keep it up.In fact, if you Swyter are working on this right now is because I said I would retake the proyect in your place if you left, but you didn't want to give me the Module System and loose your beloved credits.Vector. Yiyang. It has been a pleasure to work with you. I wish you the best of luck. I wonder how the mod will change with time, but I hope the time you invest on it makes people enjoy this mod as much as possible. I don't know what more to say. So I'll simply say 'bye'.

Swyter

You're stupid and manipulative.
Fuck off.

So, after Swyter's public message I think this is the information you SWC fans diserve. Let's call it... a 'little twist' on the point of view. Have a nice day.

Don't worry, he just has won a posting ban in the forums.
Thought this was going to be a bit more elegant, even with the month long he has been in the limbo to relax ... but naturally... is himself. :)

As I like melodramas, and I'm a mean and evil monster from the abyss. I'll leave that thing untouched.

Obviously, something went very wrong between you two.

It's unfortunate that things had to play out this way.(losing Revan_Shan) But if team members cannot get along, then the best option is to do exactly what you two did.
Just leave the scene and don't make matters worse.

I just hope that this wonderful mod, will see its completion someday, and that everyone who has contributed to this mod will continue to support it no matter what people think or say.

All I can say is, keep up the amazing work, and don't ever give up. Thank you Revan_Shan for your scene contributions and your star wars canon checking. And thank you Swyter for continuing the mod and not killing the mod.

We are redoing all his scenes. They aren't that good in first place.
Our new planets are much more detailed, pretty and realistic and even more path-finding compliant, for bots.

Also, big progress is being made in the latest weeks.

Good to hear about the progress Swyter. Not had internet in about 2 weeks, toughest 2 weeks of my life but I'm back now!

Shame to hear about Revan Shan, although, I'm surprised you survived as long as you did, even I could tell that he was full of himself! Anyway, hopefully without him the mod can progress and I look forward to progress soon :)

Keep up the good work :D!

I'm sorry to hear about RevanShan, I just started playing the mod some days ago. And even for me it was clear that u two had some problems with the methods of each other. It is bad how things went, but some times hard decisions had to be made.

So thanks RevanShan for your work, it was quite amazing.

And i hope for us all, that the mod will still be awesome, when its done. Thanks to the whole team for the work, they have allready done.

Lets hope with Revan gone *single tear falls from face* that they either started or finished Durge's stuff, I would buy the mod if it had his armor weapons and speederbike, seriously I would (up to 60$)

Well, it's been a long, long time I was around, but I'll throw in my two cents.

To be fair, while I was unhappy with both Revan Shan and Swyter as part of the team, the latter was far worse. Swyter just carries himself like an angry teenager playing CoD, and his public outbursts always reflected poorly on the team. Revan, well... he was more like an overly enthusiastic semi-nutjob who couldn't grasp that the mod was to be based on the original trilogy. To be honest, I never really recognised him as a team member to begin with, just some dude holding up an SWC banner and cheering.

Hokie was a great team leader and representative for the mod (as well as being very respected by the M&B modding community in general), but the new team has done more harm than good to the reputation he built.

So, while I have been busy with uni, I could have actually found more time to work on the mod. But, I suppose, I just didn't want to be a part of it any more.

Isn't top priority. And donations are optional.

1. I've very little time to spent here, I can't stay all the entire day in front of the computer. And the time I'm on it, dedicated exclusively into working on the mod.
Let's say that it's pretty normal that people that once were part of the team enter in rage-quit mode.

2. I'm not going to discuss anything of this in public. I've already talked with them in private. And there are so much lies, anger, prejudices, envy and misinterpretations in between that this could get into an interminable entertaining experience.

3. The mod is better than ever. No one can discuss it.

4. There's no conflict whatsoever more than you're reading this. Revan Shan is an obstinate guy and Josh is simply weird. They're better out of sight. But there's nothing bad about it. No bad feelings.

5. We've now a better assembled group of people, much more talented than them. With more projection and the most important thing: More regular and attuned. It's so easy to rejoin the team once is on the public focus. But then disappear in the bad moments. That's selfish.

Have fun.

You know, initially, this post was a mini-rant (which you may or may not have read, I don't care).

But I shouldn't need to defend myself, and any point I've been making against you... well, you're only proving it for all to see.

Good luck with the mod.

Alright, I've thought about replying for a while but held off since I'm no longer an active participant, but feel like I want to give my two cents. This was the first and only modding project I have ever worked on, my first time as a 'mod leader', and I also felt I learned a lot while working on this. Anyway, some random comments are below:

  • Working on a mod is a fairly thankless task. Each person may have different reasons, but they may be working on it for the challenge, to improve their own skills or knowledge, for fun, etc. People have real life commitments, loose interest, gain interest, etc. You might spend hours trying to fix one minor issue that nobody knows about but you, you might release a new version or new model and people criticize it or immediatly post suggestions or ask for more, there might be incredibly annoying bugs or game engine limitations you have to try and work around and constantly drive you crazy, etc. Therefore, anybody who wants to and actually contributes to a mod should be commended. However, it is nice if you can be honest with your team members and keep them update on your availability, initiative, or lack thereof. Also, we do appreciate when people thank us for our work or say how much fun it is to play, but if you are going to do that take the time to write more then a 3 word post like 'this mod rulz'.
  • This, and many other mods, are often community projects and it couldn't have been created without help for countless individuals. I could only code when I started this project, so people like TakiJap, Geroj, MartinF, Vector, Happy Stormtrooper, Barf, pagan, Swyter, Revan, and MANY others were the main reason this mod continued at all. People who couldn't model or scene edit learned to do these tasks just so this mod could be improved and I and everybody else should be thankful for their work. Now, life moves on, models are improved, scenes are replaced, new technology is mastered, but I feel its very important to have respect for the people that worked on it before since it wouldn't have survived without them.
  • This and other M&B mods are "international" community project, and I always tried to keep that in mind. English is often not peoples first language, so the nuances of the language may be missed, sentenced or phrases may be taken the wrong way, insults or rudeness may be implied but not intended, etc. There could also be cultural differences too in how people talk or behave towards one another. So if I read a post or message, and the sentences seemed weird, the phrasing rude or harsh, I usually tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and hoped it was just a problem in the translation. Some of that may be true, some of it not, but its something I always kept in mind and I tried to never be rude to somebody or take offense if their language was poor, etc.
  • People are all different age ranges and that can make a major difference on ones perspective and behavior. I'm in my 30's and I have a much different perspective on life now then I did when I was a teenager. As a teenager I might have been rude, argumentative, think I know everything, pushy, selfish, or whatever else adjective you want to use. However, I have grown over the years and now can view things differently. So I think there can often be misunderstandings or issues due to young people talking to young people, or young people talking to older people. So I tried to keep that in mind, if somebody said something, I'd often think that I would have said something similar 10+ years ago and tried to not let it bother me. However, there are times when you do need to say something and stick up for yourself or a team member, so I'm not saying to ignore everything or let people walk over you. Just pick your battles, and remember this is for fun, and there are many young, and potentially immature people playing these games, so some of this behavior is to be expected.
  • Being a 'mod leader' has its own challenges some of them which I have listed above so anybody who takes on that task deserves credit. You might have your own idea or direction for the game, but are often limited by time, the game engine, your own skills, waiting or dependent on others, or other team members idea's and suggestions. This is a team project and it should be fun, so I didn't want to discount or ignore people if they had suggestions, critiques, comments, idea's, especially if they were team members. If somebody has a different opinion or idea, it doesn't mean they are wrong, its just different. Its a difficult task of trying to merge and balance your own vision with that of the rest of your team. I tried to not have it be a dictatorship, where my voice was the only one, but where I would take other people into account. However, at a certain point a decision has to be made and everybody has to move on, so there are times when everybody may not be happy. But this is a part of life, its not going away, so people can choose to accept or deal with it or walk away.
  • Anyway, the main thing I'm trying to say is that 1) I try to always be nice and give people the benefit of the doubt 2) try to work as a team 3) have respect for everybody, especially people who have contributed to a mod you like or are working on 4) have fun, its a game. This post isn't about anybody in particular, just some general comments about what I have seen from working on this mod or the M&B modding community in general. Overall, its been great and I've very proud of what we've accomplished. However, we all have our strengths and weaknesses as individuals, so there will be issues. We are all contributors to this mod and in my opinion owe each some some bit of respect. I do hope this mod continues in the future and I have been impressed with the beta versions I have briefly tried over the last year or so and will continue to watch its progress. Thanks again to everybody for their help and support of this mod now and in the future!

may the force be with you
