Finally I got the first demovideo done. It shows the Spikeclaw monster in action. They're fast and dangerous. They can catch a running player without any trouble. The idea is to shoot them before they get too close. Now the weapons punch monsters around. For some reason that was a player only feature in Quake. Similarly the monsters get damaged from hazardous liquids now. They're not able to swim yet, but they will eventually.
Damage system has been updated. It includes damage type resistances without armor and with armor. It allows to make a character or armor immune to certain type of damage, or to take more damage. Armors can get destroyed at different rate than what they protect. For an example, armor that protects 100% of the damage could absorb all the damage without a scratch and armor that has little protection might be easily destroyed as well.
Here is the video, I hope you like it:
That's awesome, Jimi. Great work so far!
I had to double-check to make sure it said Quake engine. That's amazing! You should consider updating the stock sounds, though. The difference in quality is huge.
Well, it's using DarkPlaces (which is a Quake engine). You can find it here: Icculus.org
It might work on some other Quake engines too, but I've not tested.
Yes, sounds will be changed, my plan is to use completely new content, and nothing from Quake.
i tested several q engines in the past months but darkplaces rulez them all, and its the most userfriendly too
very nice stuff.
a pretty atmospheric level and im looking forward towards the final mod.
If you need help with mapping contact. You can see the stuff i have done in my gallery.
