Strife: Quest for the Sigil is a hidden gem between old school first person shooters that will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary. Strife came out on May 15th of 1996.

While its fame reached nowhere near the fame of the Doom series,
Strife has pioneered many aspects of FPS and Immersive sim genres and expanded the idea of genre combination.

Strife features branching story, character progression, ammo types, voice acted NPCs and inventory, which is a rare combination of features, even for today’s standard. All of that was acomplished in a slightly modified engine of Doom 2 (iD Tech).

Game development issues, smaller audience and the difficulty of modding caused that Strife’s community will likely never reach the size of the first Doom games. Because of this there hasn’t been much community activity or content over the years but, it is getting some new attention, mainly thanks to the ports from Night Dive studios.

Strife Overhaul continues to be one of the few mantained mods for Strife and you can expect its new release in the first half of 2021.

Happy anniversary!

bug: oracle final quest paths 1 and 2 can't be completed, the boss in both cases is invulnerable to normal weapons and the Sigil. I noticed it takes self-damage when it uses its attack, so I went AFK for 10-15 minutes and it was dead when I came back.

possible bug: item "shadowarmor" pickup doesn't go to inventory, though I can find it with invprev or invnext.

Having a problem with the "Objectives" popup, the text continues off the edge of the screen and doesn't wrap or have carriage-return/line-feed characters, so I can't figure out what to do next :'(

(also receiving a Chuck Norris in Oblivion reference every time I enter the town?)

This mod is amazing right now, it revived Strife for me which is a game I finished in its vanilla form in the past and that game feels too old now, but this mod makes me want to finish it again, even though there were some issues, I am hyped for a final polished version of this, no rush tho, I love your mod.

I found another weird little thing, the renegade machinegun reloads when its full I can reload this gun multiple times repeatedly without firing a shot.

You need to use the "Select special weapon" and "Select special attack" keybinds in the hotbar section.
