AT 30,000 FEET... you are almost 6 miles (9.7 km's) above sea level. The human body is not made for these conditions. Temperatures can plummet to -60F (-51C), the brain is starved for oxygen and each step is a new experience in pure agony. It's difficult to breathe. It's difficult to think. It's difficult to move. And you still have to endure another 444 feet (0.14 km's) to get to the peak. So much for the good news. STORYLINE: SURVIVE the SUMMIT ...The rebels are losing the battle against the strider onslaught that keeps growing. To help turn the tide of war you need to destroy the source of the Striders. That source is at the summit of what the rebels call, StriderMountain. There is only one way to get into the mountain geography and it's extremely dangerous terrain. The danger proves to be too much and you are forced way off target. Now, you must fight your way through the Combine Mountain Base Camp because it's the only entry to the mountain...

2009 has been a fantastic year for modding and indie gaming. With the highest amount of recorded featured releases ever on ModDB it can still go over the heads of most of our visitors. Even with the help of the monthly ModDB Spotlight and the brand new Why Should I Play feature it still can be tough to soak in all the goodness that our dedicated community of Modders seems to be able to come up with. So as a last ditch effort to help bring out all the mods you SHOULD have played here is a year in review.

February 2009

With MOTY 2008 wrapped up, the focus is back on the releases of February 2009. Quite a slow month heavy on the Half-Life 2 Steamworks releases and updates, with a few Indies for good measure.

None of you guys have any idea, much less any appreciation for the HL2 universe at all. I don't believe you even played it.

Not to nitpick, but how come MEC2 is mentioned in the video...but not listed with the other mods as a "featured release"? Or listed as a "related mod" on the right?

Yes, Strider Mountain wasn't too good. Wrote a review on it, and decided to give it a 5.5
