Hello there again, Company of Heroes and Star Wars fans,

Thanks to the community's meaningful and constructive feedback, Star Wars Frontlines v1.0 RE has now been released featuring a plethora of balancing changes, a new call in unit for the Rebel Alliance, weaponry adjustments, Haganaz' Star Wars Map Pack, and more.

Star Wars Frontlines v1.0 RE - The Galactic Civil War - Installer

NEW Rebel Marines have joined the Rebel Alliance under the Guerilla Partisan Tactics Doctrine.

Introducing a new call in unit for the Rebel Alliance! Found under the Ambush Commandos ability as an Assault Team Insertion, The Rebel Marines are equipped with the powerful A280-CFE Blaster Rifles designed to go toe to toe against the Galactic Empire's special units. They also have access to the RPS-6 Rocket Launcher upgrade kit to bolster their anti-vehicle capabilities.

Notable Balancing Changes:

The overall goal of these balancing changes is for players to have more meaningful firefights and hopefully feel more rewarding for players that like micromanaging their troops.

  • E Web Emplacements and 1.4 DP Turrets' damage output, health, and cost have been adjusted. They can now be destroyed by standard blasters.
  • Both Factions Sniper's camouflage ability are now locked behind Veterancy Rank 1. This change deters Sniper spam that can vanish instantly after every kill but preserves their lethality against high value troops and should be rewarding for players who can micro manage their lethal Sniper teams.
  • Deathtroopers have received major health buff, DLT-19 Upgrade kit, and a new "Deathtrooper Hunt" ability.
  • The 501st Troopers can now retreat.
  • Stormtroopers and Rebel Fleet Troopers have received a minor health buff.
  • Rebel Fleet Trooper Squad's RPS-6 Rocket Launcher Upgrade Kit has been removed to streamline their role as an elite support unit for the Rebel Alliance.
    • The RPS-6 Rocket Launcher Upgrade Kit from the Rebel Fleet Troopers has now been moved to the Rebel Weapon Support Team for early to mid game access for anti-vehicle capabilities, seeing that the Rebel Alliance has no vehicles that can go toe to toe to AT-STs. Yet.
  • Imperial Engineers and Imperial Army Troopers are now equipped with E-10 Blasters instead of E-11 Blasters. The E-10 Blasters served as the forerunner of the E-11 medium blaster rifle. Being cheaply made and easily mass produced, low level Imperial troops are usually equipped with these.
    • Imperial Army Troopers can now revive their fallen squadmates (passive).
  • Speeder bikes damage output and health for both factions have been nerfed.
  • AT-RTs has received a health buff.
  • Pricing on all units and abilities have also been streamlined for more organic game flow.
  • A plethora of changes on all weapons' damage output, rate of fire, and accuracy have been made. Read the BALANCE PATCH 1.0.txt file in the StarWars folder for more information on all the changes.
  • Some of the doctrines are still WIP, please refer to our previous article to see what works and what doesn't.

Along with the launch v1.0 RE, Haganaz' Map Pack is now included with the installation.

I am literally in love with this mod already. However, I have some concerns about your plans for armor in the mod, specifically the Empire which uses massive walkers and tanks.

My biggest concern I'd like to address is the AT-AT. Obviously, these monstrous walkers need to be mobile barracks/bunker-like vehicles. They have to be highly resistant to rifle fire, but should be weak against anti-armor weaponry. Further concerning me is the unit/map size ratio? Are the maps planned for this mod going to MASSIVE to accommodate these large walkers and tanks? Like, I'm talking 10x the size of the Hill 331 map in vanilla, which is the largest map in the base game of CoH.

Further concerns about maps, are you planning on fully removing all vanilla maps and making custom maps? What are your plans for the terrains? Will you entertain the different theaters of the war and planets of the galaxy, or will the maps be centralized around a certain sector?

Either way, I look forward to seeing this mod come to fruition and I wish you the absolute best of luck with this project, ebonhawk31!

I thought AT-AT's have armour that is nigh-impervious to simple anti-armour armaments. Wookiepedia describes it being "impervious to all but the heaviest of artillery weapons", outside of its neck joints and the weird cable maneuver. To add it, seems to break the balance of the game. Although, I cannot think of a good lore reason why the Imps would not use an AT-AT, as it fits their combat doctrine perfectly.

and the AT-AT are still to be decided if its gonna be a unit that can be produced in a factory or it can be call in as a reinforcement

yes maps will be massive and it will tackle the planets that the rebels and the imps waged wars.. and vanilla coh maps will be still usable for the MOD...

In my opinion, the AT-AT seems to be on par with the Tiger tank, and I suggest it should be called in instead of produced.

1-If you give players all the tools, with the right command tree they will be able to choose whatever they want to go first depending of CP they want to blow.
2-Yes its possible.
3-You can pack as many units you want in the task bar units menu, even more with additional submenu.
;) bit i do understand that 3 docs is more appealing.

Great stuff guys, maybe it would be more logical to get only 2 army command trees ( imperial/rebels) instead of 3 docs per factions, it has the advantage to balance the gameplay much more and get the best units per factions with a big and unique command tree, a great project here!

First: 3 trees give the player more choices for his style.
Second: I don't even know if you can mod only 2
Third: We can put more awesome stuff in it :D
