Currently being developed by Starside R&D, this is a Total Conversion mod for the game Star Wars: EaW Forces of Corruption from Petroglyph Studios. You decide who has the right to survive, the Terran Federation or the Arachnids and their allies, the Skinnies. It will include space & land skirmish and Galactic Conquest and is based on various aspects taken from the movie, animated TV series, and the original book. Command your Forces in the silence of space or the roar of the battlefield, be it the Terran Federation or the Arachnid/Skinny Alliance. Use old favorites as well as brand new units developed for this conflict.

Quick Update. I haven't worked on this for probably at least a year but I have started a little bit of work recently.

First, as I'm sure this will disappoint a whole lot of people, the ground side is dead. I can't get the kind of help I need in that area. This includes modeling and animating ground units such as infantry and bugs. I can model of course, but it's just a hobby and I have no experience in that area. I'm really not willing to spend the time needed to learn by trial and error.

Second, I'm working on some of the new ships as seen in the up-coming Japanese CGI Starship Trooper show. I haven't decided whether to retire some of the current ships or just add to the current selection. I'm also going to be re-modeling some aspects of the current ships. Nothing drastic though.

Third, as with the Federal ships, the Arachnid ships will be re-visited. Mainly texture wise but I will also be adding units to the current Arachnid fleet for a more 1:1 balance against the Federals.

Forth, the Tophit/Skinnies will get a few ships added to the Arachnid fleet.

Fifth, the next release will include all of the above as well as Galactic Conquest but only if I can get the GC to work as space only.

Now, I'd like to thank all of my mod's trackers. I really appreciate that. It helps to know that while the SST universe doesn't get the same attention from the masses as some other genres, it does have it's devoted fans. I know a good proportion of you are wanting a ground side, and it's loss might be the final straw but I can't keep saying it's being worked on when it's not. It's not fair to you.

Finally, I need some input on a few things.

1: On the Federal ships I used a mesh to simulate an exhaust plume. Someone posted I was lazy for doing that but it actually was more work than just using the normal effect. I did this because of issues with how the round effects looked on the predominately square engines. I'm willing to re-visit it to see if I can use the round effects if this is the preferred look.

2: There's still a weird bug where when a Hero ship arrives, an explosion will occur on another ship. It only seems to happen with the arrival of Heroes. Anyone have any ideas? Does it happen on all maps?

3: I've seen posts of people having issues with launching the mod. The mod works. It works on 64bit Win 7 and 32bit Win XP systems. However, it was created using a store bought retail version of FoC. I'd like to hear if any people have been able to play this mod or any other FoC mod with the Steam or any other downloadable version. I'd like to figure out what the fix is for it. I know Steam uses a different download directory, which might be an issue.

That's it for now.

This is awesome news! Granted it's unfortunate that we won't have ground models but it is epic to see some new work on this mod!

I pay my support for the author for being returned working on the project again.

Thanks a lot, I really enjoyed the space skirmishes and a full GC it's a big step forward.

Bugs ships needed that retexturing, have been thought of it since first look. So good to hear you already know and taking care of it.

It would be not honest to hide I'm disappointed by lack of ground battles, that are the core of SST in opposite on the other, space-centric franchises.

But I hope that a good reaction by player base on the finished space GC COULD attract some good modders to your project.

This and the respect we as players have to pay for your gratuitous work make me STILL track this mod. ;-)

Waiting for news. If anything changes about land battles, let us know ASAP. You would see many returning. :-P

Honestly, I'm tempted to learn how to make 3d models just to help you out. I downloaded the mod on Thursday, had a battle and I've got to say it was really quite fun. I hope you keep it up man!
