Hello!

For once, I will write a Devblog article all by myself. First, a short presentation: nickname Raton, first name irl Alexandre, 22 years old. My job in the team is to write and/or translate news from and to french and english, to choose screens, to take care of the Devblog and to give a hand to Keyven for the communication tasks. Photoshop, Movie Maker and good dictionaries are tools of the trade.

Let's move on to the article subject: the SGTC2 Stargate. It is implemented in SGTC 2 in a very complex way. The Stargate network system is created from a outgame tool named GateCreator, which was developed by the devteam. Several gates can be set in a single map and the travels back and forth through these gates are the same as in the show. Matter transportations through the vortex are instantaneous. Although a couple of fixes have still to be brought to the shots fired through the gate, the Stargate feature is close to being finished for the 1st beta.
The DHD dial is faithful to the show. An ingame menu called DHD assistant helps you to dial.

To avoid overwhelming you with bare words, here is a short 2 minutes long movie that I made:

Besides the fact that this clip helps you to understand the way the Gate works ingame, this movie clip allows me to indicate that Anders can be warmly thanked for the Gate and DHD models as well as Or3L for the rewriting from scratch, the debugging and the improvement of the Gate system.

Nicely done guys, the DHD works well... the initial vortex blast needs a little work, looks more like a glowing ball rather than a blast from a jet engine underwater... but superbly work, looking forward to seeing more...

Dont take this wrong but im confused now....

There used to be only one Stargate project... now there are tons of them.
Is this a new mod? If not, what makes you different from the others?

The gate effects need alot of work but other than that it looks really cool.
First time I've seen manual dialing in a game before.

nice work! it gets a new dimension while dialing and have enemy behind u, great(will learn fast manual dial of course:). during auto dial its possible to fire weapon or just jump around dhd to survive?

Yes, it's possible :)

StargateTC 2 isn't a new mod, it's a merge between SG:BFL (Stargate : Battle For Liberty) and some of the members from SGTLS (Stargate : The Last Stand).

Well thought, it's good that you considered projectiles as well. The vortex needs some visual work, but looks like the gate works like a charm. It's nice that manual dialing will be possible :)

If you want to make it more natural, I would suggest that a player needs to holster the weapon and actually uses his hand (viewmodel animation) to press the buttons.
