The gloss on the ground texture is the path tracing emulating the look of normal maps. The effect is far more interesting IRT with high resolution textures. Its just more easy to see with the original textures because they lack so much detail. This effect is better as an additive. Not as the actual stand in detail texturing method. Its value is in subtle motion, it indeed adds even more detail, but above all gives textures that 5-10% more im almost bump map look. Its a hit or miss in how advanced it is considering it IS injection not developer baked into the game code.
