Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
"Their numbers are nothing... for we have fury. Bring us to flank speed, focus deflector power to bow shielding, bring turbolasers to salvo fire, and launch all TiE fighters. Death or glory, men."
-Captain of the Line Oriven Tactos, commander of Battlegroup Subjugator, as they entered the fray against a large force from the Fleet of Mon Cala.
"Give it up, Rebel scum"
Yes, I am sure that this is what every Imperial commander blares over the ships intercom as they charge headlong into battle. LOL.
I would tbh
There is no hope for rebel scum only a firey death.
been playing the hell out of this mod but are there shield effects for the empire anyway keep it up love the mod
In all the Star Wars canon, we've never really seen evidence of a bubble shield or other shield effects on SW ships. accordingly, the SW vessels in this mod have no visible shield effects.
To which Goafan indicated the need for more memory usage due to having to double(?) your mesh sizes.
I personally think you should let them render shields. Anything that saves memory on this 32bit game is very valuable.
Also, the lack of visible shields in the Star Wars is likely just to keep continuity with the original movies, where shield effects would have probably been remarkably difficult to pull off back in the day
As of yet, we still have plenty of memory to play with; it likely won't become an issue unless we attempt to add another playable faction.
You might be right about the reason for the lack of shield VFX in the films, but for now I think the intent is to continue on as we have been until we drastically need more memory space.
Fair enough.
I hope if it does eventually come to that you won't have too much extra work on your hands
Cheers to that. Erock works hard enough as it is.
