Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
I decided I could use a break from the New Republic textures, so I decided to spend a day or two putting together a new texture an oft requested and infamous ship in Star Wars canon.
Super Star Destroyers are always tricky. The sheer scale of them forces you to work at a much more macro level since, when one pixel represents 3 metres or more, it can be difficult to include scale appropriate details. Hopefully I managed to strike a reasonable balance here.
I believe the original mesh used here is once again one of EvilJedi's pieces.

Not sure yet. The Eclipse is a relatively newer addition to the planned ship lists and will be very unique. It could well go through a lot of design iterations before we're happy with it.
I was under the impression that it could snipe ships with its super laser but in 1v1 against another SSD or Star Dreadnought, it would lose outright.
it should be like a long range ship good for far range combat but would loose again a 1v1 against ssd or star dreadnought if its close to one of em
i think you could nerf the super laser so that it 1 shots anything except for upgraded starbases and higher level supercaps.
also prob should give it a relatively long cooldown
The superlaser in lore is still a planet killer, a fully upgraded starbase wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. I say give it a very long cool down, but it can one shot anything. It is the ultimate alpha strike, but is relatively weak in one on one combat with other titans.
a 1 shot would be cool but very op to even this out how about it being the level 6 ability and that the cooldown is perhaps 10-30 min depending on the damage my guess it would do like 15000 damage and have like a 15 min cooldown. so it would be very good for far range and hit n run attacks it could prob destroy some small titans like home one and nearly all capital ships exceptions if there a extreme high level
It doesnt destroy a planet outright, but it does crack a planets surface, making the planet uninhabitable

I think it would look better if the smooth elevated (4th level from the bridge) section of the ship was used for the entire model or if the rest of the texture was scaled down significantly. As you eluded to, the scale of the ship as a profound effect on appearance of textures; I think fewer would be preferable to get a better sense of the ship's size.

I like your style. I haven't seen too many different Eclipse versions, but this one stands out. The geometric patterns are much more interesting to look at versus normal hull armor. Great work.
That was sort of the thinking. The eclipse always looks so "blah" the way it is typically done. I borrowed some ideas for a particular version of the Eclipse II that I thought might work nicely.
I also have a version of the ship with the primary plating alone without the macro hull, except much finer yet. It looks alright. More or less like the more traditional versions of it... but also more boring I think.
It could go either way really if necessary. I figured I'd try the more unique version for what is to be a bit of a special ship in the mod. Reception seems to be skewing positively for the most part so far.
It always looked a bit bland in my opinion. I built a slightly modified version of it myself a while back with some more distinct characteristic like trench superlaser chargers and a bit more overall detail. Media.moddb.com

I love all the recent remakes of older models/skins (Especially the Mon Call ships and the Endurance) but this one looks a bit plastic. Clashes with the previous updated ships. It may be the indentations and the shadows created by them looking too smooth but it looks really out of place and again, like plastic.
The eclipse should be jet black hense the name, "Eclipse". This doesn't give that impression. I'm not trying to crap on your hard work or anything like that. Just being honest as I love the mod and want it to keep getting sexier. <3
EDIT: One thing I wanted to try and put to text but couldn't earlier was the frame of the ship. It looks out of place, especially a ship the sheer scale of the Eclipse. Frame looks like it's all one piece which would be impossible, even for the Empire. Maybe remove the frame altogether and just adding more smaller details like plating while also removing the inner grooves could make it look more imposing and massive.
I cannot speak for sure on this, but this might just be the lighting. Dolynick did some experiments on the Nighthammer with his next generation shaders and it produced a similar effect. In fact real life stealth bombers interact the same way with light, and they looked sort of like this.
You cannot have white light on any dark, rough surface without it skewing lighter. If that bothers you, you'll just have to take it up with physics.
It's more the size of some of the textures that don't lend to a larger, massive vessel. They make it look like a corvette or even a large fighter or gunship. If you look at a leaf and said leaf's veins it's a very similar look that you've done here. If it's supposed to be stealthy then a flatter, more similar paneling across the entire ship makes more sense scientifically. Just look at any current gen stealth fighter or bomber.

Wouldn't be any bumps in the super structure except for the obvious such as external components. It is difficult to get a good idea as there is no real art to judge from as most are just ink drawings with complete black for all but windows/lights etc. What you've done here is amazing and I don't have the talent or experience you do so I can't really talk. I was replying directly to Goa's comments which were in response to you regarding the shading and color.
I am well aware of the concepts of scale. What you don't seem to get is that I CHOSE to do something a little different than the usual homogenous generic greebling that is usually done on the Eclipse I in favor of something a little more influenced by various versions of the Eclipse II. I am aware that my plate scale is larger (although I would argue that when each pixel is 4 meters you wouldn't see the micro plating that might make up the larger framing anyways) but I did it with the goal of making something more visually interesting. I'm relying more on the lights (orange) and window (blue) to convey scale here.
And yes. I have a version of it with nothing but a highly miniaturised version of the primary plating. It looks more like the typical version of the Eclipse I. It's also a lot more boring. If this version was met with widespread disapproval I might make the switch, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

None. The Eclipse is a very unique and special ship, no one will be able to construct it as a regular unit.
But can we capture it in some way? I need sexy superlasers in my life.

Speaking of which, I'm new to this mod but I've noitced a lot of Empire at War stuff, including Zann Consortium ships, does that mean they'll be a playable 3rd faction like in Forces of Corruption?
Not a playable faction, no.
The Consortium was basically never referenced outside of Forces of Corruption in Star Wars lore. Most of the ships they had in FoC were given to the Mandalorians in this mod (a good chunk of them were Mando ships anyways).
Maybe they could show up as a minor faction, but there are no immediate plans for them.

I feel like ppl dont say this much, but honestly, the eclipse 1 was a beautiful ship, to quote Tyrion Lannister: "in a brutal, horrible, sort of way"
The nose section is alright. I've never really like the shapes on the back half of the Eclipse I though. The back half of the Eclipse II was much better I think, although the nose there was more questionable on some versions of it. As with all things though, they both look better from some angles than others.
To be honest, the ship design is really eye-catching. It really does kinda stand out compared to other eclipse designs, to be honest, I actually like that compared to the more traditional takes on it. Way to use that creative license to put your own personal touch on such a magnificent ship, what I'm eager to see is how the Superlaser will look, I've seen some where you can actually watch the beam travel down the ship and others where its internal, others still where it lights up in small ways. Either way, it looks fantastic!
hm you could make it a mobile superweapon paired with the stripped to the core ability of the vasari.....
but killing a planet every 15-30 minutes would be a little op i think
its not easy to balance this ship....

It can render them uninhabitable though. Or at least kill everyone living on it.
