Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.

Have you ever considered adding other factions like the trade federation?

This mod is set strictly after Episode 6. We will not be adding any people or factions that were dead before the Battle of Endor. So no Clone Wars factions, though you will probably see more old Clone Wars ships.

If you go through the news articles you may find some hints as to other possible factions. :-) The New Republic is the next major faction up next though, and the last originally planned faction for the mod.

Wasnt there an alien race that invaded the New Republic in the books? that might be an interesting one.

I'll just say I think you're thinking of the Yuuzhan Vong. :p

Thats it! Now that JJ Abrams rebooted the franchise in a fantastic way I am going to reread many of those books. I am actually so happy Disney bought it out. I was worried for a while.

I'm not convinced. I'm not a big fan of Episode 7. The new characters are good, much better than the prequels, but as a mod author I'm mainly concerned with the universe as a whole. The movie being a near remake of episode IV did not inspire confidence in me, and I'm not convinced that the First Order and Snoke are terribly good antagonists yet.

But thankfully I don't believe Abrams is doing the rest of the movies, so perhaps if Rogue One (which should have been a Wedge Antilles movie with that title) and Episode 8 are better I might start caring.

However even if I really liked the new universe, its going to be a while before it gets enough material to do a mod such as this without making stuff up or reusing Legends material (unless they start importing substancial portions of the Old EU, which it looks like they may start doing). So we're sticking with the old universe. The mod got started or at least planned before Disney even bought LucasArts after all. Perhaps after Sins 2 is out there'll be enough new material for a new canon mod. :p

Welp, I'm happy to be getting this rather than nothing.
Still hate Disney for killing the EU though.

The yuuzhan vong one of the most destructive race in starwars history would you be able to add them?

Jul 7 2016 Anchor

He's already given reason for them not being added. Don't remember exactly what it was though...

Jul 7 2016 Anchor

ow i didnt know about that :o

Jul 7 2016 Anchor

They won't be a playable faction...

Jul 8 2016 Anchor

Ah yes, that's what it was...

How might they be implemented, though? Just curious as to your thoughts on what they may be.

I read that Ep 7 was supposed to be almost a reboot/sequel in order to reintroduce young kids to star wars they way ep4 did to my generation. I can see that and I have two 5 year olds that loved it.

I think the greatest thing about the new movies is that fans who grew up with the original star wars movies are making these new ones. Lucas was way too temperamental and his dialogue was horrible in the prequels. 'I hate Sand, it gets everywhere....'. No jedi should have to use those words lol

Seriously though, have you heard they are making a Sins 2 or is it still rumor?
