One would think the troops sticking out the top without any kind of cover would be a fatal design flaw for a frontal assault troop carrier, but whatever, lol.

Star Wars isn't really the place to go if you want to talk about sensible vehicle design.

I would think that this vehicle was meant for fast troop deployment behind your own lines.

It is! The heavily armored MTT is the one meant for front line deployment.

Not according to the Kashyyyk battle in ROTS, you see those things storming the beaches under fire. Actually, that's what the background image in this preview is from, hehe.

I don't think it's a flaw; look at the landers at D-day. Sometimes you need to get a lot of troops on a beach quickly and you don't have enough time or money to buy APCs or armor wouldn't be helpful. Especially considering these are droids and considered disposable.

Nice!

I had a lego set of one of those when I was young, was one of my favourite sets

The Trade Federation(and presumably the Confederacy) used them for behind the lines or low level warfare. Also think it might have been more of a heavy loader anyway, just converted to war use. Like most of their vehicles...

Which really raises questions about what an MTT is for
