Funny you should put it that way. Its also a shame that you have zero idea what your on about, buit for your benefit I'll do my best to explain my actions to you (although truthfully I really have no need to) and hopefully you'll understand a little bit further.

So you read a mods title and you immediately have certain expectations about its possible content even before you see such things as unit lists etc.etc. so you support said mod in some way (gamers provide their own method of support whereby other modders try to support in more direct methods) but as time goes on the mods creator decides to go off in a completely different direction. Okay so thats all well and good and the mods creator has that god given right to change their mind. After all this is THEIR mod. However, despite good advice, which has been given in the past they sort of "stick their head in the sand" and hope all goes well.

However, in every mod theres a strict method to going about these things. The modder should attempt to put their ideas forward by firstly writing them down. Initial stages are usually the hardest part. If you think of a name, you need a concept thats at least a good match. If you have a good concept, then you'll need a good mod title name that matches your concept.

Now here we originally had a cross sci-fi mod and looking at the mods splash screen this could be correct (with the Enterprise being a featured ship on said splash screen some might be forgiven for thinking this was some sort of Trek Vs Wars mod as well), but now this is the case. This mod, when first started, had some seriously fantastic potential and could have gone in one of two ways. Unfortunately, what you don't seem to realise is that I've been trying to support this mod as much as possible without offering direct help, but then you've only read the initial comments and haven't seen such things as personal communication.

I ask you. Do you remember seeing a mod that was started for EAW based around pokemon?? Most likely not and the simple reason is because it was laughed out of the community by those that actually know what they're doing. Thankfully, so far that hasn't happened to this mod but its onyl a matter of time before something like that may happen. Trust me when I say that harsh criticism or criticism of any kind is usually something no modder likes to read or hear but its going to happen. The bottom line here is that whilst images have been posted of many possible ships, ships I might add that we were assured would represent this class, or that class, will not be making any kind of appearance. Do you actually know what frustration and disappointment are?? Obviously not, but this is the way that a few would feel, and yes. I am one of them, and why?? Well simply because when you see a mod with potential and it begins to fail that potential then you find it a waste of time to have bothered offering the help you did.

Finally, and I do appologise for having to split this up into four parts but the 2000 character limit isn't as much as you would think.

Anyway, you'll be surprised at the comments I make even for small, simple mods if they are presented well. The beta for this one was nothign more than a heavily rushed job just to get something out there and its content leaves much to be desired. I keep going on about this but the audio thats been made available can have a serious effect on not the mod but the person involved as there will be legal issues involved. I mean what would happen if this mod content was reported to the IRAA directly?? MODDB, Gamefront (where the mod has been hosted) and megavin himself might be in serious trouble and this is something which he doesn't need or want.

I may be sounding a bit ignorant here but what is a "fesso"?? It would be appreciated if you want to pick a fight with me to at least do it properly and not use such wording. Besides. If I insulted everyone who watched this mod then I would also be insulting myself or had you missed that one!!??!! Oh and if your on about other mods that have "died" the perhaps you might want to also realise that a community goes very quiet after a certain length of time.

You can not be sued for using other peoples things in a non-profit manner as they have nothing to take for the user.

its site rules to restrict these actions because people get fussy over the matter. this issue came up with other mods and was proven to be legal by copyright law. so i could use a ripped homeworld model in a EAW mod all i want and release the mod to the public even without credits as long as i dont make any money.

alot of mods for many games use ripped models without any issue. my old mod had ripped models and sounds from Bridge Commander and Homeworld 2 without even a single comment or lawyer showing up at my door with a warrant to take my crappy laptop.

Just let this guy make his mod in peace and stop being a self appointed moderator when you're just mad he didnt take your advice. if you dont like his mod then go elsewhere like a normal person. your the only one who's given a negative review of this mod and if you continue with this it will discourage the team just like the Alphablue mini-mod that got cancled cause some idiot was mad he didnt have time to give an idea but could spend days saying he had no time.

Megavin123 is only a 15yo kid so leave him alone, i had a wild imagination too and now im making a mod for it too so why dont you come berate mine and leave this kid alone your 39 and dont have better things to do then hurt people.

So what your basically saying is you can use anything you like from any source you want?? You need to wake up instead of living in a dreamland. Strange how I made no such mention to the mods content other than its audio files. Ialso take it that you don't believe in such things as requesting permission to use someone elses hard work and giving credit for the time and effort they put into producing these things. Man you really have a lot to learn don't you. Fine though. You contineu down that path if you like and see what kind of **** storm you create for yourself.

As for your own mod, I would presume you never made any kind of mention of the original source so you basically hide those assets you used. Thereby using them without permission or credit. Thereby theft. Again, you know little of what you speak about. I do know one thing. I would be interested to see how other modders reacted to your abuse of their work if and when the time came, so again, feel free to continue what your doing. However, its nice that mentioned it. Just means theres another of the many theives that cause problems for actual modders.

Mad he didn't take my advice?? Well theres something to be said for experience isn't there. In the end this is his mod and if Megavin wants to end up with a failure then so be it. Call it a learning curve if you want but thats why experienced modders are around. For guidance and advice. He might only be 15 but he's already stated he won't give up. However, you don't think that people are going make him think the sun shines from his arse now do you?? If you do then your seriously deluded.

Forgot to ask you emperorniko. TO what mod would you be referring that you've done yourself. I'd be interested to take a look.

I only said i COULD use what i want. i gave a proper reedme for the models i used. My old mod is gone now as it was a minimod and i am now making a total conversion that will use all new models plus the hard drive it was on is trashed.

And i was only saying i could download a model from Turbosquid or sketchup and use it in my mod and i dont HAVE to credit anyone i CHOOSE to so as a respectable modder and do it since i enjoy there work. i know of a few sites that i could and have gotten some of your armadia fan-made models from.

And you are not an expert but you talk down to people like another EAW modder i know and that guy actually deserves to do so as he is one of the first EAW modders and his mod is massive for just one guy.

This kid is autistic and your telling him that his dream of his own fan-fiction mod is stupid but you're the only one doing it so it must be worth it to everyone else who hasn't said a bad word to him.

This is the kind of bull that made all of the other EAW communities disband and many good members leave.

And i do believe it was YOU who reported this mod as inactive and got it archived the other day.

Ah you wouldn't happen be talking about Nomada Firefox perhaps or maybe the guy behind the Pheonix Rising mod are you. Hmmm. Perhaps I haven't done EAW mods for as long as they have but I've been around this community since it first started and well before that. That doesn't make a particular mod any good. Oh and before you carry on, expertise is gained through experience so perhaps you might want to gain some yourself. Besides we could sit here and argue the point as much as you like, but that doesnt' detract from the fact I've been there, seen and done it.

Oh and I'm sorry to tell you this but you know nothing of the reasons why people leave a particular community so please. Stick to specific facts.

LOL. I did report this mod, but as I've already stated, not for the reason you believe. Again your lack of the true facts are showing your ignorance. Still for your benefit I'll repeat myself. The reason I reported this mod was simply because the download contains MP3 based audio which can easily fit into the category of illegal because of its source. I really would be curious what the RIAA would have to say about this though. As for archiving it, thats a staff members decision, not mine. Oh and in many cases before mods have been simply deleted for breachs of this and other sites rules.

To continue. Yes. I understand that megavin is autistic and I applaud his attempt to produce a mod, but that doesn't make him any different to other modder in the community. My father in law (god rest his soul. May he be at peace) may have had muscular dystrophy but he had one hell of a brilliant mind. It didnt stop him from doing such things as using a pc properly and learning to drive, but he still preferred it for people to treat him as a normal human being, so please don't try to preach things to me. its strange how when one person speaks truth about anything then that person is reviled, but I digress. Unless staff see fit to ban me from the site which is their choice, I'll continue to be frank and truthful about any mod I choose to, in the same way you'll continue to use model and texture assets as you see fit.

Yes megavin. I understand that as I read it previously and I appologise for bringing my side of this arguement which seems to be continuing on your mod page. I was fully willing to let the matter drop but remember I hold no malice to you personally, even though others may tell you otherwise. Hmmmm. IIRC I'm sure I've PM'ed you with some help earlier in your mods creation stages and I'll do so again.
