Feast your eyes on some sketches that were necessary during the development process. We tried to create our own references when we couldn't find any, and Daniel Darusenkov was a great help!
Do Jedies normally use armor? For example on Geonosis in arena no one of them had it.

Before Clone Wars
Sometimes they used battle armour(Mostly from what we've seen in The Old Republic). However the current robes are rather visually outdated and players want something new and improved. You'll be able to use the same robes from the concept art without the armour and or the armoured version.
