13 years passed since Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out in 2005. While certain models used in the game still look quite impressive for the year of its release, some of them may feel unsatisfying or outdated in comparison. The aim of this mod is to replace some of such models and textures with ones that feel slightly more HD, but not too much, so that they would not look 'out of place' when compared to the models that will not be changed. Also, the appearance of certain units is going to be redesigned to feel more fresh. I'm going to incorporate certain design ideas from other Battlefront games. The mod should be online-compatible as it will only change the visuals. The mod is currently focused on the Galactic Civil War Era. The Clone Wars era might be modified as well in the future, but I cannot guarantee that.
I'd like to apologise for the lack of information about the project's status. I'll be honest with you and admit that there's not much that I've done since I released 1.0. A lot of stuff has been going on in my personal life, plus there are a lot of things to take care of at the uni and there are still final exams ahead. As a result, I didn't have much time to work on the mod. Besides, I also felt like I'm lacking new ideas to implement.
However, today I decided to rethink some things and I came up with my plan for the future release: there will be two versions of the mod, so that I could find a compromise between the two ideas that I have for the mod. Both of them will be online-compatible (so I won't change weapons, class' properties, sounds, etc).
One of them will be the 1.1 version of what I've currently released. I will replace some models and maybe textures (it won't be completely different from what I've already made, though). I will take a bit of inspiration from EA/Dice's Battlefront games. There are still some models that I'l still have to find, as I'm not a modeller.
The second version will be called 'Galactic Civil War Refreshed: Classic'. It will be more of a cosmetic mod and some sort of homage to Pandemic's concepts for SWBF2. To be more precise - the sides will use the same concepts as in the vanilla game, however, they will use updated versions of their models and textures that you can find in the last release of my mod (I might still modify some textures, though). The ammount of new ideas will be limited in order to maintain the spirit of original sides.
However, I'm unsure about the time of release. As I mentioned, there are a lot of things in my personal life that are in the way. One thing is certain: I'll start showing the progress after I've implemented at least 70% of the new content. This way, I won't feel as much of the presure and the wait for the release might feel a bit shorter.
