13 years passed since Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out in 2005. While certain models used in the game still look quite impressive for the year of its release, some of them may feel unsatisfying or outdated in comparison. The aim of this mod is to replace some of such models and textures with ones that feel slightly more HD, but not too much, so that they would not look 'out of place' when compared to the models that will not be changed. Also, the appearance of certain units is going to be redesigned to feel more fresh. I'm going to incorporate certain design ideas from other Battlefront games. The mod should be online-compatible as it will only change the visuals. The mod is currently focused on the Galactic Civil War Era. The Clone Wars era might be modified as well in the future, but I cannot guarantee that.

Hello,

I'd like to apologise for the lack of information about the project's status. I'll be honest with you and admit that there's not much that I've done since I released 1.0. A lot of stuff has been going on in my personal life, plus there are a lot of things to take care of at the uni and there are still final exams ahead. As a result, I didn't have much time to work on the mod. Besides, I also felt like I'm lacking new ideas to implement.

However, today I decided to rethink some things and I came up with my plan for the future release: there will be two versions of the mod, so that I could find a compromise between the two ideas that I have for the mod. Both of them will be online-compatible (so I won't change weapons, class' properties, sounds, etc).

One of them will be the 1.1 version of what I've currently released. I will replace some models and maybe textures (it won't be completely different from what I've already made, though). I will take a bit of inspiration from EA/Dice's Battlefront games. There are still some models that I'l still have to find, as I'm not a modeller.

The second version will be called 'Galactic Civil War Refreshed: Classic'. It will be more of a cosmetic mod and some sort of homage to Pandemic's concepts for SWBF2. To be more precise - the sides will use the same concepts as in the vanilla game, however, they will use updated versions of their models and textures that you can find in the last release of my mod (I might still modify some textures, though). The ammount of new ideas will be limited in order to maintain the spirit of original sides.

However, I'm unsure about the time of release. As I mentioned, there are a lot of things in my personal life that are in the way. One thing is certain: I'll start showing the progress after I've implemented at least 70% of the new content. This way, I won't feel as much of the presure and the wait for the release might feel a bit shorter.

Thanks for reading this and have a nice day,

Mr.Slavko

Amazing mod, I love the look of the Stormtrooper and Shock trooper. The TIE Pilot as the engineer brings back the old days of BF1. Not a huge fan of the look to the Dark Trooper but it's really good. The E-11 and blasters look perfect. It's like a mix of EA's Battlefront weapons and old school Battlefront look to it just makes it very well put together. The DLT-20A, "Pulse cannon,' works well with the scout trooper. ^w^ It's really good so far.

Thanks! Yeah, the sides setup was inspired by the cancelled SWBF3 and the original BF1. As for the Dark Trooper, I just found this model to be the most fitting option (the stock one would really stand out). At first, I also had some doubts about it, but then I started to think about as something like the Power Armor from Fallout. :D And actually, the DLT-20A model was originally used by the Rebel Marksman, but I liked the model and saw it used by the Empire, so I wanted to give it to the Scout Trooper :D

It's really good and well made. ^w^ However, the officer still has the stock/vanilla grenade launcher. And not a huge fan of the old Episode III shuttle for the Empire. Overall it's as good as the remastered sides mod. I noticed the marksman used to use it. I use the Empire of this mod and remastered sides mod of the Rebels and Republic, CIS. This mod mixed with remastered sides works really well. Most have issues with custom maps and old BF1 map mods but this works along with them.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I know about the launcher. I was going to use a different model, but its first person look was a bit weird while in widescreen resolutions. I might go back to that idea and give that model to both Wookie Warrior and Imperial Officer, though. :D And yeah, I'm also not a big fan of that shuttle, but I'm not sure if changing its model wouldn't break online-compatibility (and I wanted the mod to be online-compatible). The idea with mixing these two mods is pretty cool, actually :D I'm glad you like it and that you feel like using my mod in combination with the work of other modders :)

The MPL launcher from both EA's Battlefronts would work, it is a thing, however, the shuttle model was replaced with the Imperial landing craft; aka Sentinel-class shuttle model swapped the episode III one in Remastered sides mod for the Empire. However I would love to see the Lambda-class shuttle or the DX-9 Stormtrooper transport, however, those were in TIE Fighter and X-wing series, Dark Forces II, Mysteries of the Sith and Star Wars Galaxy and well not one to demand or ask for either shuttle or transport. But loving the mod so far. Hard to go back to any other side mods.

Yeah, I was referring to that MPL Launcher model ;) And yeah, I remember that transport. Actually, you brought some memories from about 7 years ago when I was playing DF2 and MotS on my Windows XP computer. Still, I will most likely play safe with the vehicles, I think. Still, I'll definitely make some small changes in the next version of the mod. And I'm glad you like it :D

I tested the rebels sides after seeing what the rebels look like for it. Skin changer works for it and yet the rebel engineer/rebel pilot uses the default vanilla shotgun. So far the rebels are amazing. There is a clipping issue with the Stormtrooper and Shock trooper at their lower backs when sprinting and on the shoulder straps when the shoulders are raised to aim or idle standing, those are pretty minor and only issue I have seen yet all of it is perfect, I would accept the Dark Trooper if the arc caster was different but nonetheless I have seen the dark trooper model wield an E-11 and scout pistol. xD What I was thinking is something like the model weapon it used in DF and maybe a... Somewhat large weapon for the pistol for it due to it being almost bigger than Vader using tiny weapons. xD Even so, this mod will always be my main side replacement more so than remastered sides mod.

Mhm, and for shuttles and such as far as I know vehicles seem like a nightmare, however, I dunno how to mod anything yet but want to. Sorta works with the skin changer for the Empire, adds a pauldron and backpack with the sandtrooper option and shadowtroopers and shock troopers, royal guards change the model completely but doesn't affect most models but it's fine. I rarely use the skin changer option for the Empire.

Sorry for the late reply, but I couldn't log in to moddb, until I tried to do it with Internet Explorer (xD). I know about Dark Trooper's pistol, but the problem is that Imperial Pilot uses the same pistol, so if I changed it to something bigger, TIE Pilot would use an oversized weapon. I think that the option that I've chosen is slightly less bad ;)

Hey Mr.Slavko, I love the mod and everything you put in there. Now, I feel like the only thing missing is the side mod in space for the marine troopers for the Rebellion a Rebel Spec Op troopers with that awesome black armor gear and the Empire a Imperial Navy Commando that were both used in the Evolved 1.0 side mod 4 years ago.

Thanks for kind words! Yeah, I was thinking about modifying the space troopers as well, but I decided to use the types of soldiers that would fit during the Tantive IV sequences from ANH and R1. Although, if I make an update (can't promise that, though), I'll most likely change these
