Victoria 2 is the only game I still enjoy in paradox reserve of games, and you bring me a Star Wars mod? do you want to end my life? LMAO, I'm already in love with the concept of the mod!
Anyway, just a question, how the **** are you going to make this playable? Victoria 2 is terrible for modding, since it's really old and has a lot of limitations on the engine and the AI.
Yeah, it’s terrible for modding. There’s nothing telling you what you did wrong when it crashes, and there are a lot less tools and guides for everything in general. I’ve had very few issues with the engine since completing the map — though custom models are still impossible so far. I’ve tweaked a number of the AI values that are available to get them to focus more on maintaining a navy as well as trying to find a balance with how they prioritize army/navy composition with the new unit types. Events/decisions in later releases should help to drive them to do things. Worst case scenario if the AI proves to be completely incapable of doing much, I’ll be hosting multiplayer games and channels over on the discord in addition to anyone else wanting to host games.
I've played mods with custom modles they are not impossible I believe you can do it!
I believe the other mods use models from Europa Universalis: Rome and Hearts of Iron III. They use the same format and convert over easily.
then would it be possible to make the models in hoi 3, Europa universalis and convert them over to vic 2? ex making a models of a storm trooper in hoi3 and then converting it over to vic2?
I might be entirely wrong because I don't mod and hardly know any programing. but I understand if that doesn't work ether vic 2 is old
The files are in a proprietary format. The company that used to make the software kind of slowly faded away in the past few years, and the software was bought by Amazon for Lumberyard but remains in a limited preview state that can't do much of anything. I've found two ways to convert the Vicky 2 files to OBJ in the past few months that keep all the bones, textures, and animations intact, but there is no way to convert them back unless someone can reverse engineer the format and/or the script I used.
what's the name of the software?
EmotionFX. The formats for the files are .xac and .xsm
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
This is... new? I never through you can actually make a different world in vicky 2, much less simulate a galaxy, this type of mod is more suited for stellaris if you ask me, the game is already sort of vicky 3 in space anyway
Stellaris is still under active development. I'd rather not have to update or even completely rework a mod for a game that's constantly changing. Is new necessarily bad though?
Not at all, this was just something i have never heard of and thought it was pretty much impossible
There's a Discworld total conversion in the works over on the official forums I urge you to check out as well. The creator has posted little about it, but it's the only other mod I can think of with a completely new map.
