Star Trek: Armada III begins with the first stirrings of the Dominion War and allows players to take command of five unique factions, the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union/Dominion Alliance, and the Borg Collective. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
With the Terran uprising against the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance wreaking havoc across the Quadrant, it was only a matter of time before the rebels re-founded the Terran Empire. After five years of constant guerrilla warfare and with a growing fleet of raiders and Defiant-class warships (the designs of which were stolen from the Prime Universe) at their command, the Terran Resistance Forces finally found themselves in a strong enough position to reform the great Empire of their lineage.
To represent the strength of the new Terran Empire and to lead the way to future glory, the Terrans began mulling over the designs of yet another starship design stolen from their counterparts in the Prime Universe. The Sovereign-class starship was indeed a force to be reckoned with, but its exploratory purpose was insufficient for the Empire's needs. Heavily modifying the design into a dedicated battleship, the Terrans began work on a mighty warship to lead their march to victory.
The ISS Imperator is the flagship of the Terran Empire. Devoting many of their resources into its construction, the Terrans have built one of the deadliest warships to exist in either universe. With several times the firepower of the Sovereign-class on which it is based, the Imperator is bristling with phaser banks and torpedo launchers, and can lay down a massive amount of weapons fire in all directions. This allows the fledgling Terran Empire to fight effectively even when heavily outnumbered.
The Imperator is so far a one-of-a-kind warship, and will serve as the personal flagship of the new Terran Emperor. An Emperor will be named, however, only when the Alliance is defeated and the Terran Empire reigns supreme once more. With the Imperator at the head of the Terran fleet, that day is close at hand.
I would love to play as the Terran Empire...
Yeah, would be a dream to have the Terran Empire instead of Federation with modified versions of several Federation vessels like the NX-class or even Luna class and then of course this cool Sovereign. Maybe sometimes in the future this dream could come true for the Stellaris mod. ;)
Random thought: What about a research option, similar to "Divided Loyalties" that just switches the Feds to the Terrans (in name) and gives them the ISS Imperator as a dreadnought instead of the Excalibur/Polaris? Science bonus gets nerfed in exchange for a global combat buff for all ships?

It might not be a perfect system, but you guys should allow for team colors on fed ships so people could role the Terran Empire if they wanted.
I hope this ship will be more than just a random event, I always thought someone should create an addon that applies Mirror universe markings to the Federation hull textures to give the impression of playing as the Terran empire, adding it as it's own faction would simply be a copy of the current Federation faction and it would be rather pointless.
Not necessarily: it could be like the Loyalists vs Rebels in Vanilla Sins: the Federation would have upgrades and a tech tree geared for diplomacy and economy, while the Empire would have upgrades and a tech tree geared more towards combat and dominating other races...Sure, they'd use similar ship classes, but even then, they'd have different textures and potentially different stats (reflecting their differing purpose from their Federation Counterparts)...
But those would more be just changes for research descriptions and rearranging some parts of the research tree I cannot imagine it would be that different to the current federation research tree and as far as ship classes from what we know from the series and Beta canon sources or STO the Terran empire uses the same ship classes as the Federation perhaps with some different abilities and slightly altered stats. I would love to play as the Terran Empire and use this Sovereign dreadnought but I still think it would be more productive to have an addon to convert the existing federation to the Terran Empire especially due to how the game has reached it's limits in terms of content.
