My first choice will be assaulter,It's balanced with weaponry, can take damage well and carry a lot.It may not be that good with medicine, but since it also has the highest damage resistance, and lowest damage penalties of the other classes I wont need it as often.

No, thank you. Whimped out and after my first 5 deaths and changed the actor.ltx to something less frustrating (~130% resistances). The mod itself is great, though! :D

Sniper. They are best equipped for a long staying in the zone without being dependent on a main base. If you see some bandits on long range, you shoot them. If a mutant comes too close, you get rid of it with your pistol.

If you look at weapon proficiencies, the Assaulter has a more balanced approach, as it has decent handling of all weapon classes. Plus, it can carry more with very little penalty - this alone sets him above all the other classes, as you can scavenge more, and scavenging is fundamental for your survival.
The weapon perks and stealth bonus of the other classes can be easily offset by using proper tactics and weaponry.

According to this, you should carry a shotgun as your secondary (which is what they start you off with)

if you play Version 1 ur weapons are based on class setup so Assault started w/ an Ar Recon w/ an SMG i think it was skorpian and Sniper w/ a Mosin Nagant and 10 rounds of ammo

@ loner85
I'll try a sniper too. But not with a pistol. My second weapon will be a light Shotgun for dealing high dmg on close range.

Shotgun is quite bulky for quick use, that's why for example the US Army guys have no shotgun equipped, but a pistol for closer ranges! In STALKER, unfortunately, it makes no difference tho.

We only carried a shotgun if we had to breach a door. We weren't allowed to engage enemy with the M500 unless our primary went down. Most units don't issue sidearms either, so if your rifle goes down, you're pretty much ******

The Stig 44 seems like an odd choice for an assaulter. Why not just a straight up Kalashnikov? Unless of course you want us to scrounge up some very particular cartridges for it.

The AKM is a pretty powerful weapon.
We need to start off somewhere and feel a nice progression and relief by getting ourselves the better gear (one way or the other)

Still, a lowly, half-broken AKS-74u would have worked well as a starter. They're not particularly accurate, and are basically the cheapest assault rifle available.

That's an SMG in this game, unless the misery team changed in weapon class

I think a Ak74 or something would be a better choice, StG's are already pretty dammed expensive, rare, Ammo would be a bit hard to find (And ammo that wouldnt **** the ~50 year old Internals)

flyawaynow, I am assuring you that the STG-44 is great weapon. Even without upgrades its pretty reliable. You will see for yourself. But personally I was kicking *** with this weapon until I got to Yanov. And the only reason to change it was that I switched to other weapons for testing purposes.

RECON- pistols are the most common weapon so I'm gonna be best with them, also being quiet helps when clearing out buildings
P.S. I was downloading rising storm (which is bloody massive) but sod that, I NEED TO GET PRIPYAT DOWNLOADED NOW!!

I'll choose Recon, too. I think a Obrez/G36K combo won't be underpowered. ;D

And the best thing: good artifact handling = most money and improvements
The only thing i regret is that i can't handle my loved FAL ^^

I've always favored long range and accuracy on every STALKER game. Mostly because of the erratic ammo drops and loot, so I try to make every shot count and save as much ammo as I can.

Sniper all the way, funny enough I've always used a Sniper/Shotgun combo to pick off any enemy far enough to water down their numbers and then switch to the shotgun to kill anyone who gets close, if they get close.

I'll play through all 3 but I'll start with the Assaulter because that's what I would be and would fit me best of the 3 in real life. Although I really like Recon and Sniper a lot too, I would be no good at them irl.

Sniper any day. Stalkers or Mutants will not exactly know where you are when they die.. just wait until i get the silencer. An open field is immediate death! Raiding buildings by picking enemies off one by one and relocating is the safest way period. Knife fighting skills?! Ha! I got a shotgun if you want to try and get close with that!

Can't decide between sniper and assaulter, on the one hand, Assaulter is a pack rat, and I am a pack rat (just look at my room), on the other hand, sniper is low maintenance, and can use most guns very accurately.

Both Recon and Assaulter classes say: "We’ll never survive!"

Where as Sniper says: "Nonsense. You’re only saying that because no one ever has."

Range = safety in the Zone. And the Sniper has more range then the other two classes. Just my thoughts and experiences. ;)

Not to mention, the sniper can use the ARs better than the Recon, and AR is the most varied weapon type in the game.

Plus there's the shotgun bonus, AND the ironsight zoom.

Sm1ter is correct. No point starting with a pimped out weapon. When you enter the Zone you want to look like a Rookie not to draw too much attention to yourself and your mission. Better weapons and reputation must be earned.

By saying not drawing attention then why give a ak-105 when only 300,000 produced and even less + 1891 can be found maybe in museum its rarely to see in some village of somekind, by saying this i only want to say that theres no logic by giving this gun.

I just bought a Moist Nugget from Cabelas about a year ago. For $150. They apparently found a forgotten shipment in a warehouse in GLORIOUS UKRAINE or something, which means that Ukraine does indeed have Mosin Nagants laying around.

Here, get one for yourself. The price has raised only $50: Cabelas.com

Oh, and ammo is about $10 for a box of 20, assuming you live in 'Murica.

On the other hand I love to repair my stuff myself.
