Principles:
1. There is a constant, day-time background radiation affecting the player everywhere on the maps except for places which normally are surge hideouts,
2. Intensity of this radiation is primarily dependent on the amount of sunlight,
3. The more sunlight, the more severe radiation, meaning the sunniest days being the most deadly ones,
4. Radiation is severely decreased in rain or fog and it's dependent on the time of day and ceases completely during nights,
5. The player can shield himself from this radiation with normal means (suits, helmets, drugs) however, attaining a complete protection on a sunny / lightly clouded day is impossible,
6. Major changes to made to the Alife to support the above: regular NPC squads only venture out at nights, and during day remain in secure factional hideouts (locations of some factional bases moved to more secluded places). Well-equipped scientific squads have wider hours of activity,
7. Story-related NPC squads who're bound to stay outside permanently dress in proper protective suits to justify their presence there,
8. Increased mutant spawns and activity to fill the now deserted locations, previously lived in by humans,
9. Starting hour of all PC classes moved to the same hour in which the Black Road usually starts.

Give it up for Yastiandrie and trojanuch for this never-seen-before Stalker mod feature.
You have never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like this before!
(Currently in the testing phase and will be available soon in the official MISERY 2.1 release)
This looks very brutal. I'm sure it'll be liked by many players who're currently saying 2.1 is too easy.
Those people are crazy...
...we are :)
Seconded.
is not that hard really. its all about the element of surprise.
It's a badass! :D
I cant get this mod. I became a member and pressed the link but it did not work, what am i doing wrong?
Way too difficult a feature for me personally. I would just get frustrated with something like this! Excellent creativity though and I am sure people who like hardcore difficulty will dig into this new feature. As always, great work MDT :)
I second this, most likely a bridge too far for me, will at least try it out though.
Holy crap! i never knew but i allways wanted this :D
i allways loved playing at night from dusk till dawn with this mod but to be honest i never done it when i didnt have the right gear :D sunlight was a welcoming award for the battered soul of the night, and now its the sinister sign of death and the quote to run like hell. just thinking about it gives me chills! :D
count me in :D
Hmm, sounds like the perfect mode for people who're like me, a psychopathically fueled killing machine! I practically KOS, so sleep over day, kill in the night and trade before sleeping.
Nice!
Looks pretty immersive, but I don't know if it's going to be too annoying to open inventory every 3 minutes to take antirad meds.
You can bind them through quick slots :) And having a good suit will allow you to venture out, just don't do so in very, very sunny days. It's recommended to do your stuff at night, in this game mode, if you dare so ;)
got it, sounds good. I'll have to play at night irl as well, since that annoying sun doesn't let me see what's on screen.
Now I just need to do something insane like play with gas mask on a drunk on vodka for the full immersion XD
Don't forget to have your weapon next to you.
Yeah, that was what I was thinking. I think I'll watch some footage and see how it fares before taking the plunge. If the flow of the game is hampered too much, then I probably won't bother.
Oh you are a party pooper...Try it out! What will it hurt to test your limits and see? They test these things before release you know to see if they blow balls or not! ;)
This game mode mainly promotes going out during night hours instead of day hours. If you have to go out during the day avoid the midday hours and/or go out during stormy or foggy weather.
On a side note this mode will also benefit the Recon class greatly. I'm not sure if its in the guides but in 2.1 they inherently get similiar bonus's as the ghillie suit does but during the night time hours (it also stacks with ghillie)
THANKS for that info Yasti! I had no idea and as recon has become my favorite class I am now excited to head into the zone once again!
Hell YEAH!
Now is the time to bring back AtmosFear's 3 radioactive fallouts and there will be no good time to leave the bunker :D
that and your psy storms!
i would like to ask a question if i may :D
how would the engine handle "detectors" with durability? becouse you have that repair system that could easily be used on batteries to "repair" these items :)
Interesting. I liked the radiated water and vegetation, and random radiation spots in Swartz mod.
I love this mod. But i think that adding this will be a mistake. The game is fine with this balance. Anyhow i was wondering if you could adjust tha the HKmp5 or atleast the Frazier has the ability to mount ACOG 1.6 sights. Or atleast have a red dot sight like the Cobra. And why are there no Uzi's in the Zone?
It's completely optional, so you can have "vanilla" Misery experience if you don't fancy being killed by radiation during the day and by mutants during the night.
MP5's lack a standard optics rail. There are hackjobs out there, but their still hackjobs. No native picatinny = no acog. The Kobra sight is of soviet design, and thus relies on a soviet sidemount.
Duck tape, Duck tape fixes everything
10. Jax Briggs foot appears randomly at daytime and crushes player.
I'm sure this will be fun because even on hard difficulty I get too many med kits vodka and rad meds.
The famous invisible enemy is back !
holy wat! very hardcore indeed.. i'll probably give it a try :p
Interesting, but now it feels like there will be even less NPC battles than vanilla CoP, which is already incredibly barren.
Maybe we should all try it out first and see?
This gives me happy feelings in my tummy.
here, have some anti-rads
Download link is available in MDT test lab, for anyone brave enough to try it :)
The link does not work... Says I can't access the forum only administrators can...
Then ask for access to the test lab :)
HA I love this :D
I never use anirad drugs enough, I feel like they don't get enough use.
Nice idea.
Can it get harder than this? Wowzies.
uuhh wheres the download link? i cant find
Please look around before posting. It's both on the front page, description and in the comments
This sounds awesome!Seriously, more survivalistic challenge?YES PLEASE!!On a sidenote,if the selling prices are fixed, with this mode i think i can die a happy man.
cooooooooooooool! I somehow missed this the other day so off I go now to get fried by black hole sun!
hardcore = YES PLEASE!
Clear sky is dead :(
You mean *Clear Sky is death*
Constant radiation, I like the idea. But to be honest, I don't get how the day-cycle should be realistic. Radioactivity doesn't care if it's dark or bright, it's just there at every time. Making some areas emit more then others, okay, I would get that, but depended on the sun?
Yeah, this "feature" has no scientific basis whatsoever.
The Zone has no scientific basis whatsoever, but it doesn't mean you're forbidden from having fun playing Stalker series.
Enhanced UV radiation from the sun.
I remember one of the old anomaly ideas for Stalker games being this odd gas "lens" floating in the air that greatly magnifies the power of the sunlight and thus grills and radiates the victims beneath it.
That gas lens kind of makes sense to me, though I thought the radiation was mainly because of the reactor accident. Differing between two sources of radiation seems kind of odd to me. Also the "grilling" would exceed the radiation problem by far. If there was such a gas lens, it would be much cooler to lower your stamina in daylight, even more in Bodysuits, and to raise your food consumption.
@Trikzter: As I said at the beginning of my post, I like the idea of constant radiation. However I'm not quite happy with all of those ideas, so I try to give constructive criticism and I don't see how this should be wrong.
Yeah, I hear you. You're right that it's not realistic (by a long shot), but it doesn't need to be. All we need in my opinion is a plausible story explaining the occurence of this phenomenon. I've been thinking about thinning of the ozone layer above the Zone, but have run into some problems. Still, it's an idea worth pursuing imo.
It's an excuse to make the game harder, one that I welcome.
