Last Day is no longer being developed or supported by its developers and translators. These two, newer mods offer a similar and better experience:

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Anomaly, a spiritual successor to Last Day
  • Dead Air, a project developed by the author of Call of Misery, which Last Day is originally based on

What is Last Day?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Last Day is a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod pack based on Call of Misery and version 1.4.22 of Call of Chernobyl, originally created by the Eastern S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community. It includes several addons previously unknown to the majority of the western S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community, such as MLR, which adds a lot of new characters and tasks, Outfit Marauder, adding lootable outfits on fallen stalkers, or an extended edition of Outfit Addon, adding not only outfits and helmets already present in the regular version of Outfit Addon, but also several variants of all types of apparel: regular, worn, and damaged.

Below is a flowchart detailing various projects from which Last Day derives. It is recommended to experience these first.

How is Last Day installed?

Fairly simple. These files need to be installed into a single directory, in order.

The mod runs standalone, meaning it should be installed on its own without being combined with Call of Chernobyl or Call of Misery.

An older version of Last Day is available here:

What does Last Day feature?

Here is a full list of addons and features included in Last Day:

  • Explosion of damaged weapons
  • Fast travel
  • Ghillie suit from MISERY 2.1
  • Multimedia PDA
  • NanoCell Inventory
  • No Ammo HUD
  • Physical appearance of money
  • Psy-helm
  • Radio
  • Smart Artefact Spawn
  • Squads on PDA
  • Thirst simulation

Additionally, there are new models for NPCs and mutants, new artifacts, new mutant parts, new consumables, a simulated PDA network, stash descriptions (like in Shadow of Chernobyl), new icons, new music, new radio tracks, changes in prices, PDA tabs from Call of Chernobyl 1.5 (relations, encyclopedia etc.), and more.

Frequently asked questions

  • Several folders are missing from the gamedata directory. Is this intentional?
    • Most of the files from Last Day are packed in .db files located in the database folder, along with files from Call of Chernobyl and Call of Misery.
  • There is constant radiation outside. How can this be disabled?
    • Constant radiation is caused by the Dark mode option in the game options.
  • How can mutants be skinned? Clicking OK does not work.
    • Mutant parts have to be skinned by double-clicking on each separately.
  • Animations do not play when using items. How can this be enabled?
    • Use item animations in the game options needs to be enabled.
  • There seems to be no obvious destination when undertaking a task to guide other stalkers. What is wrong?
    • The destinations of these tasks are dependent on the dynamic news system. As a result, they are often quite vague, and can only be completed through trial and error.
  • Item icons are scattered and messed up. What causes this?
    • Increasing the texture quality in the video options can resolve this issue. Otherwise, it may simply be caused by using an old video card, in which case no solution is known other than upgrading it.
  • Nimble does not offer any wares. Is this intentional?
    • Nimble, while present in the mod, no longer functions as a trader, and has been substituted by Meeker, located in the book store on the Outskirts.
  • There is still some text in Russian, even while using the translation for the mod. Is anything wrong?
    • The translation is not 100% finished, and thus some text remains in Russian.
  • Trying to enter another level leads to being teleported backwards and being prompted with a message saying, "This path is unknown". What causes this?
    • In Last Day, not all routes between levels are unlocked from the very start. They can be unlocked by completing various tasks, using PDAs acquired on corpses, and carrying out dialogue-specific transactions with traders.
    • Alternatively, they can be unlocked by enabling Open level routes in the game options.
  • How can files from the mod be edited?
    • The DB Tool, part of AXRToolset, is required. Most files related to the mod are located in the .db files in the database folder. Instructions:
      1. Run launcher.exe
      2. Select DBTool
      3. Set the input path to the database folder in the Last Day directory
      4. Create a new directory where you want to unpack and set it as the output path
      5. Press the execute button
      6. The tool has a console command window attached, view it for output and it will say when it's done.
      7. Copy any files you want to modify from your unpacked folder to your gamedata folder, keeping relative path names. (ex. move unpacked\configs\creatures\actor.ltx to gamedata\configs\creatures\actor.ltx)

Mikhail Grishin, the main developer of Last Day, announced today that development on Last Day has ceased.

This might not come as a surprise to many of you. Updates to both Last Day and its translation have been few, and Last Day Lite—another project released by the Last Day team, based on Dead Air—was never translated or even announced here. In addition, my own communication with Grishin has been sparse, and my general activity in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community has dwindled.

Perhaps, one day, there will be a return to the Last Day translation to finish things up on our part. Nevertheless, Last Day will remain on Mod DB unless we ever get a request from its creators to take it down, and we have a repository on GitHub for the Last Day translation—a repository that anyone can contribute to at any time.

Outside of Last Day, my team and I are working on a translation for another mod, the progress of which can be seen on our group page.

Function: CScriptEngine::lua_error
File :\xrServerEntities\script_engine.cpp
Line: 189
Desription: fatal error
Arguments: LUA error: ...f
chernobyl\gamedata\scripts\release_item_manager.script:76: attempt to call global 'ResetTimeEvent' (a nil value)

stack trace:
0023:006E399C xrCore.dll, xrDebug::fatal()
0023:07E8481E xrGame.dll, CDialogHolder::UseIndicators()
0023:00453BCB xrEngine.exe, CInput::OnFrame()
0023:0040F17A xrEngine.exe, CRenderDevice::message_loop()
0023:0040F23D xrEngine.exe CRenderDevice::Run()
0023:0045EBDD xrEngine.exe InitSound2()

I installed like instructed by getting call of chernobyl and installing call of misery + call of misery patch to game then adding call of misery: last day on top of it. Game launched fine but i experience this error when i try to start a game up after loading and creating the character.

Mod looks really fun and i hope this is easy to fix

Edit: i didnt launch the game inbetween installing each mod, just pure speculation but that could be a reason for the error.
Im going to reinstall the game and see if i get another outcome this time.

Pretty sure you're using the wrong version of CoC. I don't think the release_item_manager.script was added until after version 1.4.16 (1.4.20 being the version I'm pretty sure it first appeared in.).

That being the case, you're Last Day installation was doomed from step one. Make sure you get 1.4.12 then patch it to 1.4.16. I'd be willing to put money on this being your issue.

Yes, i fixed the problem shortly after but i couldnt tell you because i didnt make an account until later today.
Turns out i made the mistake of assuming the latest patch was better to download than 1.4.16.
So much like you said, this was the issue.
Great mod so far, really fun, but crashes sometimes when i load saves, no biggie though!

Everyone's stupid to some extent, it's alright.

You don't have to download any of those addons, those links are just there to show the original addon pages. Everything is included in Last Day, and any addons made specifically for Last Day can be found here. Moddb.com
