Quieter Things is a (slowly growing) collection of tiny mods intended to quiet down or silence certain sound effects within the Call of Misery: Last Day.
So far this includes quieter footsteps and the option to remove the loud "BOOM!" sounds associated with certain PDA broadcasts.

Quieter Footsteps v1.2 for Call of Misery: Last Day & Arsenal Overhaul

This mod simply reduces the volume of footsteps in CoM: Last Day and Arsenal Overhaul by adjusting their original output by -12.5db (roughly 25-30% quieter), so that they're not so overwhelmingly distracting. All though footfalls on most surfaces have been affected, those on/in water have been left at their original volume to maintain realism. This mod (likely) reduces the sound of NPC footsteps as well, but so far I have not noticed a difference in gameplay.
INSTALLATION:
Simply extract "gamedata" to your game directory and overwrite.
UNINSTALLATION:
Open the folder labeled "backup (orignal files)" and copy the "gamedata" folder within it
to your game directory and overwrite.

Disable PDA Booms v1.0 for Call of Misery & Call of Misery: Last Day

This small mod replaces the loud "BOOM!" sound effect associated with PDA/News broadcasts with the $no_sound.ogg file so you don't have to do it manually. The regular PDA beeps have been left untouched. I found the booms to be startling and disruptive.
INSTALLATION:
Simply extract "gamedata" to your game directory and overwrite.

I would also add mod that change that weird and annoying slow speed of walking and running(yeah, yeah its realistic, but this is a game, some balance need to be made). It would be good to have all-in-one mod related to footsteps
It would probably be a better option to adjust the base volumes using SAVandT while leaving the dB levels intact. These .ogg files are raw and not adjusted for use in STALKER, which is gonna yield a lot of console messages. Metacognix.com
The mod has been updated with the patched .ogg files and the console errors have been eliminated. Thanks again for the tip.

There's a mod called "CoM_Mutant_Ambient_Sound_Removal" to remove the annoying bloodsucker roar. It can even be heard on levels where there aren't any bloodsuckers. Doesn't make any sense.
Edit: Ever thought about using one of Alkiroth's smaller mods called "PDA sound restoration"? It's included in Alkiroth's Overhaul in the "Optional" section. Recommended for those who don't want to hear a "BOOM!" every time they finish/fail/start a quest. It probably also removes the boom whenever you discover a new location.
Included in this mod is "Disable PDA Booms" which does exactly that. :)
I also use the bloodsucker removal mod files. Would be great to see those added into this pack.
