The pre-release of Anomaly 1.5 update is available. This is mainly for testing and feedback purposes.

Important Notes:

  • 1.5 requires a new game and is NOT compatible with old saves!
  • The Beta will reset all your settings, set them again after starting the game.
  • Don't install any form of add-ons for 1.5, only "Back to the Root (Models)" and "English Voices" work fine for now.
  • To start Lost to the Zone storylines, ask stalkers around for any new information they know. You might find someone who can give you important leads.

Anomaly 1.5 is the biggest update yet, It includes a lot of new features and major changes

Story mode


"Lost to the Zone" Storylines have been added to Anomaly 1.5 with it's 3 parts:

  • Part 1: Living Legend: a famous stalker has returned to the Zone. Pursue him in order to obtain his invaluable knowledge.
  • Part 2: Mortal Sin: a sinister faction emerges from obscurity to take over the Zone. You are the only one who can stop them.
  • Part 3: Operation Afterglow: the Zone attracts a lot of attention. However, some people believe that its many secrets are best kept hidden.

The Story mode now includes "Lost to the Zone" storylines, along with "Mysteries of the Zone" and DRX Questlines. The player is free to play any of them whenever they want.

Major quests won't be given to you upon starting a game, you need to ask for it.

Warfare

Warfare has become a part of Anomaly as an optional mode. It simulates a war between different factions in a dynamic fashion.

The mode lets the player assume control over their faction. This is done at run time, and the player can choose between either the dynamic expansion system or the manual expansion system. The dynamic expansion system will adapt to any bases you captured in manual expansion mode when you switch back.

With an offline combat simulator, squads can intercept other squads arbitrarily, so the zone will be much more dynamic and the large scale war will rage at the far corners of the map.

Atmosphere


The engine received a lot of improvements, and many new features has been added such as HUD inertion and FXAA support.

The weather cycles have been completely revamped by meatchunk to achieve better atmosphere and quality. And many improvements are done to the surrounding environment such as trees swing in storms, glowing anomalies, dynamic rain and more.

A-Life


The A-Life received major changes. Stalkers travel more frequently and report their activity in the other parts of the Zone. The disguise system has improved, your equipment and behaviour affects the way stalkers observe and remember you.

The mutant spawns in underground levels is reworked for more dynamic encounters, each playthrough will carry something different for you.

Every time you start a new game, the spawned items around the Zone will be different. Their availability depends on the chosen difficulty.

Special characters and common stalkers offer more unique tasks, along with expanded dialog.

Sometimes you want to pass through some area without worrying about an enemy squad camping there. Many special characters have connections around the zone, talk to them and provide a payment to bribe an enemy faction temporarily.

you can ask natural squads to join your company and provide protection for a fee, the service is offered for a day or two. The escort squad will decline if you travel to abounded locations or monolith areas.

On high ranks or really bad reputation, you'll attract enough attention. Your enemies will put a bounty on your head and send elite squads after you.

Inventory and Items


The inventory has been expanded with more item slots. In addition, a lot of changes have been done to the item system: all devices operate by their own batteries, you can swap batteries between devices.

Backpacks are essential to increase the carry weight while equipped. And bolts are limited on hardest difficulty.

PDAs found on corpses can be viewed by the player to dig the messages inside. Messages related to the dead stalker can be about anything, search for any important info you can find.

A new set of headlamps and PDAs with special features are available. In addition, a new 3 detectors are added for quests and general-usage:

The Geiger Counter is now a detector with its own model. Using it will show the radiation value on the HUD. It operates under 3 modes to show readings in different ways.

The RF Receiver is able to catch signals coming from different radio sources. Along with the Anomaly Measurement device, both are used for different quests.


Download and Installation:

The beta is a patch in a form of loose files, not a full release. The final release of 1.5 will be a complete repack (Standalone), it will be released once the beta is over.

First you need Anomaly 1.4 to be installed. if you have it installed already then skip to step 4. Otherwise follow this order:

1. Create a folder of your choice for Anomaly

2. Download and unpack Anomaly Repack 1.3.1 (Part 1) and (Part 2) inside the folder

Wowsers! Anomaly is really pushing the boundaries here. I really hope that more story mods are made using those detectors!

Some kind of documentation on how to implement those detectors to quests would be much appreciated!

Not to be that guy, but it states in important notes that the beta is NOT compatible with old saves so yes a new one is required.

Yea but reading shouldn't be that hard 😊 but in his defense, the post doesn't mention alpha saves made in 1.5, it just says 1.5 requires new. I downloaded alpha 2 days before beta but still started fresh

I think first alpha was available in September. I'd say hopefully sometime in January it'll hit full release and be repacked into a single download, but they added/changed a lot so not sure.

Made a fresh install (1.5 beta). Consistantly crashes a few seconds to a minute after spawning (both as Clear Sky in their camp at Swamp and as Loner in Yanov). No pop-ups or messages, only a Windows (error?) sound. :(

Make sure you didn't miss a download, there's like 4. Core anomaly repack, update 1.3.soemthing, update 1.4, and beta 1.5. Just in case overwrite your game data with the reset one (there a folder called gamedata reset), literally exactly what I did and no issues. Double check your settings too, should be an ini or something you can change outside the game if it defaulted too high

Hello, I have a question. Is there a list of addons included in the game with respect to lets say vanilla Call of Chernobyl? I mean, there are quite a few addons I would like to try, but it is hard to find out, if some of those are already included or not.

And another: does anyone know the name of the mod, which for example in this vid www youtube com/watch?v=VG6sfxOwOhk (srry, guest coment restrictions) at about 17:45 mark adds the animation for skinning the animals to Anomaly?

I keep getting crashes at random intervals, the longest time I've managed to play for was like 7 minutes. The crashlog is always the same:

Hallo, ich bin in Zanton gestartet. Leider ist ziemlich am Anfang der NPC Pielot gestorben. Komme ich jetzt ohne ihn nicht mehr aus Zanton raus? Hab nun einige Zeit hier verbracht um erstmal halbwegs ordentliche Ausrüstung zu bekommen, war jetzt die ganze Zeit und das sammeln umsonst?
Ansonsten super Mod, zumindest was ich bisher erleben konnte :)

Experiencing difficulties due to several bugs.
-When Player gets killed clicking on load new game provokes game crashes every time, load last save the same issue, yet some time it loads up(with load last save).
-For some reason Geiger counter stopped working, it makes sound but won't show numbers.
-If to start the game as merc in other place than dead city, for some reason it won't let the player to disguise. Player puts repaired armor on(player not seen) but the visibility scale(======) shows almost red and Bots spot you and start shooting.
- It's quite difficult to focus on bots and read their info i.e. fraction(bandits, monolith, etc.), it's possible if bot moves in towards direction of player or from the player. If bot moves i.e. from left to right it's almost impossible to get info about bot.

Itching to know this too. I want to get back into CoP and I'd been waiting for MISERY 2.2 for years, only to find out it's really not very good compared to even the buggy 2.1. Anomaly seems to strike a good balance of story and open world, but I'm in no hurry to play a beta; STALKER is unstable at the best of times, so a beta mod will more than likely only frustrate me with crashes. No disrespect meant, would just rather a full release.

only thing I currently hate is terrible anti-aliasing, built one sucks
Check out Dead Air FXAA feature, it really makes image very smooth and nice, could you implement Dead Air AA into Anomaly or create a new one?

I tried ReShade, but it can't handle Anomaly.

Not fair to leave a review yet, having only played it for 20 mins, but so far I'm very impressed. It's clear the x64 transition has worked wonders for it, and the only stuttering I have experienced thus far is after changing levels which is to be expected. Looking forward to playing more over the weekend!

The bolt-as-item seems really finicky and not worth it. It keeps unequipping itself on load and everytime I pick up a new bolt/usable bullet (side note, why isn't junk ammo usable as throwing? it would give it an actual use apart from vendor trash) and when it does work it tends to lead to me fraging myself since that's what it equips when you run out of bolts. I'd much rather have a sidearm slot. I've also noticed that certain guns can't use certain types of their given ammo. the 1911 can't use hydroshock and it doesn't seem any of the snipers can use the .338 DU round.
