Does anyone have an idea where to upgrade my PDA, apart from discovering a recipe? I remember some guy announce that he upgrades PDAs in the Bar, but I couldn't find him, so I don't know whether this was flavor text or not. The guy's name was Kurgan, I think |

You can buy them from Faction Traders when you have high enough goodwill. |

Like Acemax said you can just buy them from traders, but it's pretty ludicrously expensive, so recipes might actually be a better idea if you save up the parts from early on. |

I found a trader in Darkscape, who sells almost all the items available, but for very high prices. I still us the basic PDA. Whats the real benefit of the upgraded ones? |

The PDA software is a worthwhile upgrade imo. It helps you ID friend or foe without having to come up right next to them and getting shot to pieces. I play without crosshairs for the immersion, so I can't just hover anything over the target to display the target's name and faction. Many have similar styles of uniform (some stalker vs bandit uniforms). Also keep in mind that ecologists will dress up (rarely) as mercenaries (not sure if other factions do too, but I know ecologists do at least) making them 100% look exactly like mercenaries - down to wearing the same mercenary patches on their helmets and uniforms and no details of an ecology/scientist patch. So without the software upgrade, you literally have to walk up to them to try to "chat" to see if they are friendly. Wouldn't want to go killing your allies right and starting a war? |
