Why just dont rename .ogg files same names as in anomaly. Adding weapon configs for sound replacement feels sick for my opinion. It makes this one addon not compatible with more interesting weapon addons. Like your adjust ironsights or my RRA.

If you only changed the .ogg files you wouldn’t get proper stacking of the distance sounds. Each gun now runs 2-5 sounds when firing. As opposed to one from before.

The original version of the mod doesn’t change configs. Just sound .LTXs. I haven’t downloaded this version and snooped around but I assume it’s probably the same.

But if I’m wrong and it changes the weapon configs you should make a compatability patch mod for people who want to run RRA or ironsights.

Oh. IDK that it needed. I thought this just a simple sounds replacement.
sry.
THX 4 the answer. Going to check it.

Impressive, I have a folder with about 3,000 weapon sound files from various mods if you want me to send you some extra audio material to use, if so, DM me.

The attenuation works great, though my one gripe with some of these audio sounds is with the shell casings audibly landing on a hard surface, which doesn't always work because some parts of the maps are soft ground, but there seems to be no real easy answer for that anyway.

I’ve been thinking of switching the shells to a more subtle shell sound because that can get distracting at times.

The only thing this edits is weapons_sounds.ltx, so it'll be easy enough to make a compatibility patch with RRA and my ironsights addon, if it's necessary. I will point out I've been using RRA with this addon and its all fine on my end so possibly it's natively compatible?

also weapons.ltx excess in this addon. Its same as in vanilla anomaly.

Ah yea I should remove that one, thanks.

Reply Good karma+1 vote

No it isn’t. It changes sound files called for (explo.LTX). It wasn’t arbitrarily included. That’s what controls the RPG explosions and ****.

If you can move the contents of explo.ltx to a different sound file then it would be okay. But my game wouldn’t accept it when I tried it.

Ah, thanks cause I replaced your weapons.ltx with the default anomaly one and the RPG explosions didn't work. Guess we found the source then eh?

yessir.

like i said...to ensure compatability try to carry the sounds from explo.ltx to another weapons sound file and see if it works. theres gotta be a way to do it.

"These are only for 1.5, I think 1.5 added the Famas which 1.4 didnt have so it's not compatible"

What? If they're only for 1.5 but incompatible with 1.5 what's the point?

I *very clearly* said it's for 1.5, and that I'm not sure if it will work with 1.4.

Not bad. But such echo feels strange indoors.

I agree, but Anomaly doesn't have proper echo features, so we can't do much with it.

Reply Good karma+3 votes
cortlong50
cortlong50 - - 295 comments

I’ve actually been trying to figure out a way around it.

I’m wondering if it could b changed in the “ambients” config. Like if we can make it use a different LTX when in indoors levels it could be done.
And it definitely could be done. I just don’t know enough about LUA to do it.

There is a way to detect (in anomaly, not too sure about coc) whether youre underneath sky or not underneath sky. We could use this as a basis for whether to use the outside sound with distant echo or the inside sound with inside echo. I personally dont know how we'd do this, but it's definitely possible

Reply Good karma+2 votes
cortlong50
cortlong50 - - 295 comments

oh ****. thats definitely the way to do it.

i think COC does the same thing (i assume thats what controls the rain sounds when youre like inside and the rain is hitting you vs not) and that would definitely be the way to do it dude!

**** yes, id love to have that sound difference...sound makes all the difference.

if we are gonna go that hard...im gonna make the shells hitting different surfaces sounds too. but thats another deal entirely haha.

im gonna start digging through configs to fnid that underneath sky ****. if we know where to look let me know.

also sorry for blowing up your comments section.

Yea I'll ask around the anomaly dev team for what determines if youre outside or not, but it might be a while before I get an answer, they are (rightfully) pretty busy.
And no problem about blowing up the comments.

The Bison bugs out after like 20 auto shots the other guns probably too if you hold the trigger too long.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

cortlong50 - - 295 comments

if youre holding the trigger for 20 shots youre probably running into an engine limitation that is purposefully there to make sure you dont get runaway sounds.

maybe try some trigger discipline?

You shouldn't tell me what to do, also you shouldn't expect me doing this all the time. It's only logical that I tested your mod to hear how it sounds. Very nice of you for insulting me while all I wanted to do is giving you a feedback.

All he said was try trigger discipline? Also that happens with weapons in vanilla anomaly so it's an engine limitation. I like to imagine it's the sounds normalising in your ears but if it gets fixed in 1.5 then it'll be fixed in this addon.

Hey man. If the shell sound is annoying or (understandable) download my version of the mod (in the description) and add the no shell sound files. Easy peezy. Should clean that up for you.

Even having another weapon sound mod if you overwrite everything doesn't work?

I'm getting CTD's after installing this one. I have installed Reload and supressor sound and the Ironsight mod. Do they conflict in some way?

I agree. Grenades and RPGs should be far louder than other small arms.(okay, if it's for a video game, don't make it deafening.)
